Lost Visual Voicemail Messages after iOS 11 update

Looked online for a fix, and walked over to my Apple Store, but no fix yet. After the update, when I go to my Visual Voicemails list, I only have one, from about a week ago. Voicemails I received before and after that one are gone, some listened to, some not.

Tried doing a Reset of Network Settings but did nothing.

Apple Store suggested I try resetting my password by calling 611.

ATT suggested calling my own number from my iPhone and checking to see if my voicemails were on there, but it only played the one that currently shows up on my iPhone.

ATT is telling me that any voicemail older than 2 weeks is no longer on their servers and is stored only on the iPhone, so the only way to restore those is through a restore from backup.

As a long time iPhone user, it seems I recall this being an issue in other system software updates, but can't remember what the fix was then.

Anyone else with the same problem and a fix?

Thanks!

I had the same issue and I resolved it by simply resetting my voicemail password via the ATT website.

1. Login to att.com

2. In the search bar at the top type "reset voicemail password"

3. Select "reset wireless voice mail password"

4. Follow the instructions

Before I even received my new password from ATT via text my Visual Voicemail appeared again on my iphone

I am a Verizon user on my iPhone SE and I noticed this happened most recently after a message popped up on my screen citing a, “carrier update: blah blah blah blah blah… “. Does anyone else noticed this as a common thread for when this situation happens. I have now lost some money in some Voicemail information because I cannot play it at will. Not very happy Verizon! … Or my iPhone SE!

Just watched a friend go through this problem with Apple support, using iphone 7 using ATT service. Apparently the 'fix' only works for a few hours then back to a fuzzy screen that should be the voicemail to text transcription. Is this an Apple problem or an ATT problem, a software/firmware problem? Were there several progressive evolutions in production of the 7 hardware or firmware? Notice in the info on that feature that 'with a carrier that can handle the voice message to text'. Anyone know if this is seen with Verizon users. She's loosing serious business communications. 10/25/17 921 PM

I tried all of the other suggested solutions to no avail, including spending nearly two hours troubleshooting with AT&T. Followed the series of steps below (which I cannot take credit for) and it worked for me:

  1. Force close the phone app
  2. Place the phone in airplane mode
  3. Then open the phone app and go to the voicemail page. You should see all your voicemails instead of a "call voicemail" button (it will say visual voicemail is not available and messages may not be up to date but follow #4)
  4. Then disable airplane mode

My visual voicemail is now working and the sluggishness/latency with the phone app when launching appears to have resolved as well.
