I power cycled my phone multiple times and the problem resolved itself.
I solved this issue with the following steps:
1. Disconnect usb/lightning cable from your phone
2. Powercycle your phone by powering off and powering on.
3. Open Apple Music and play any downloaded song. You must have at least one song in your Music App. If not, sync one song from iTunes or download from iTunes Store.
4. Connect USB/lightning cable while music still playing on phone.
5. Watch and listen as the audio magically transfers from your phone to your car audio.
Tip: If you’re Spotify user, remember to follow the same procedures by starting up the Music app first. I was unable to play any audio from my phone, regardless Music, Spotify, YouTube and etc. It somehow resolved after following the steps above.
I have a similar issue. The connection works via USB (it plays the music) but doesn’t allow me to control the music or display the song title, artist etc
Same on my Hyundai...so frustrating...
Hyundai said there's no update...it's apple fault with bug on music app with ios 11....
No problem on ios 10...
Very very frustrating
I have the same issue. Had I known I would not have done the update.
I have a very similar issue. 2012 BMW. Steering wheel controls worked for next song/last song but now with IOS 11, when I press either my phone just pauses music.
Same with Mazda CX-5 2016
My iPhone 6s is charging really slowly and says "accessory not supported" too after iOS update. Mazda cx-3 (apple usb cable).
After turning the car and the phone on and off, reconnecting each time it resolved itself.
Having similar issues. My aftermarket pioneer radio plays via USB but shows “STOP” on screen and can’t skip songs. Also a 2015 Ford Mustang Sync is having serious issues connecting and playing.
Name of the Pioneer radio ?
Are you on ios 11.1 ?
I had the same issue with my iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 11.1, Hyundai i30. I updated to iOS 11.1.1 last night and everything seems to be back to normal. I can connect via USB. Hope it works for everyone else
When you contacted Nissan to ask them if they will be releasing a firmware update to be compatible with iOS 11 what did they tell you?
You said you had done all the normal stuff and that’s one of the basic troubleshooting steps.
Glad it’s working for you now.
Same here with a 2010 lexus. The car’s display shows “error 6”. It’s worked fine for 7 years, until iOS 11.1.1, with iphone 4, 5, 6’s.
ios 11 will not connect to car stereo with usb or bluetooth.
