Weather widget not working on ios 11

Hi,

I have an iphone 7 plus. Since ios 11, the weather widget doesnt update at all. The weather app is not working fine either, I changed the location settings to only when you open the app, I tried also 'always on' but then that little arrow icon appears all the time in the top bar, so I refused.

With the location switch on 'when use the app' the widget should update if I open the app, but It doesnt. Sometimes the app itself doesnt update location or weather conditions.

Am I the only one?!?!

Hello to all who are having problems with the Weather App not working or having it not automatically load your weather conditions, when you launch the Weather App. An error is displayed telling you that the data cannot be “ Loaded.”

I‘ve seen this problem on iPhone and iPad devices and is very easy to fix.

Enter.... <Settings>…<Privacy>…<Location Services>

Enable.... “Location Services” to ON !!!

...then...

Enter.... <Weather> (scroll down the screen)

Enable.... “Allow Location Access” to ALWAYS !!!

...then...

Exit out of settings and goto your main desktop.

REBOOT your iPhone or iPad... totally shutting it down (hold the side or top power button on your device for 6+ seconds... then slide the icon button to “Power Off”).

...NOTE... You MUST power down your device in order for this to work.

Power up your device (press the top or side power button). Give your device a full minute to fully boot and establish a Cell or Wifi lock, enabling the Locations protocol to sync to your location.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

After a day of checking both devices not sure the update has made much difference, previously the iPad appeared slightly better at updating the Weather Widget, now it looks like it's the iPhone! - but all told they are still glitchy and the temp update can still take several minutes to appear.

Still get the impression it's time related with late evenings being better.

With respect to other Widgets updating, haven't had any issues yet, but they are all iOS supplied (ie. no third party).

I take it you updated over the phone itself, if you are going to try reinstalling via the Mac you could connect your phone but in Recovery Mode, iTunes will then give you the "Update" option - this still replaces the OS but doesn't replace your data (or remove Apps) so when finished you are good to go (if you connect normally you are only given "Restore" which then requires installing a "BackUp" (to import your previous settings) which then triggers re-downing all your Apps again (which can be very time consuming depending on internet speed/number of Apps).

Don't think there is anything else we can do.

Hi all!

I've the same problem. Gone to an Apple Store and wrote to Apple. But still does not working and no answers.

Resetting locations&privacy properties it works for some hours.

I noticed that it seems a localization problem because I've a similar issue with "Destination" widget and Apple Maps app. I try to explain better.

1 - "Destination" widget often does not indicate me time to arrival for a certain destination (home, typically), only displays the destination (home, gym, work, meeting) but not the time to arrival;

2 - Opening Apple Maps, often the app does not locate me automatically and I have to tap on the "arrow" on the top. After doing this, also the widget "Destination" updates with time to arrival. Very annoying, because I don't receive alert when I have to leave for a destination set on the calendar for example!!!

Anyone noticed the same issue (Destination widget)?

Keep in touch!

For me, the most defficient Apple software products – here I’m not counting products that work properly but poorly, such a Siri – are Maps (less than 50% accuracy over 100 events last year, all documented and sent to Apple); two-factor authentication, which has failed to work twice on my iPhone and iPad; this ongoing problem of the Weather widget not updating; the iOS software for my iPad Air 2, which is continually buggy, despite a complete wipe clean and restore as new with iOS 11; and, finally, CarPlay, which never works right, but it’s hard to know where to locate the problem, since the car maker blames Apple, and Apple blames the car maker, despite writing software for a high-end automobile.

I would rather have these problems worked out and than new features brought forth

This is good news.

It actually reported the high of 16 and a low of 18. I checked for boils and frogs, but it looks like it wasn’t a biblical plague lol.

If it doesn’t stay fixed, I can live without it. There’s more time spent trying to get it to show an accurate forecast than it would be to go directly to weather.com.

I understand some of the comments I’ve seen about Google putting out a better service, but you have to remember. The best Google apps have a beta subtitle. So you can have a perfectly working service, like gtalk changed to hangouts a subpar replacement at best.

They did they same with the Google Debt Card. Something that was backed by visa, accepted anywhere with a magnetic strip reader, for Google Pay, which only works at some locations.

Apple is evolving and there are things I don’t like, but the ecosystem is what attracted me away from the Windows and Android worlds.

These little things can be fixed, but things like one android based device isn’t compatible with another android based device. And I’m talking
