iOS 11 Bluetooth music playback bug?

Since my post the problem resolved itself. I must have rebooted my phone at home as I had loads of issues with apps freezing. But then I noticed that I could see full info on the stereo. I haven't changed anything. It's not the first time that issues with iPhone get fixed silently. I wonder if apple push small updates without letting us know ???

So it worked since a year with the iPhone 7, now they release a Major Software Update (iOS 11) and you are thinking it could be an issue related to hardware... I guess you should think again about what you're saying... Everyone is having this Problem right after a SOFTWARE Update, how can this be a hardware issue?

The evidence (and plain common sense) supports the idea that this is a software problem. It seems very unlikely the bluetooth radios (or any other hardware component) in all of our iPhones worked fine and then became unreliable in the same way at the same time right when a software update was released.

I mean it's a software issue but that only affects certain hardware. It's well know sometimes ios breaks older hardware and they usually issue hardware specific updates. Like I said, this happened to me too after updating to ios11 on my iPhone 7. But with iPhone 8 (also on ios11) I haven't had the issue in over a week. With iphone 7 this happened to me once or twice a day.

Worked perfectly on ios 10 now it just goes on a blank 2 second loop. This is bs im literally about to move back to android. This is just a way for apple to upgrade you. Usb works fine but I like the fact that i get in my car and it starts playing music without me doing anything. I have the newest update and its something to do with the software i can tell in the control center the dummy player doesnt display the song as well and it doesnt even work this is bs and apple needs to fix this problem asap.

Gutted, was hoping this would fix things. It’s getting beyond frustrating. On a side note, is anyone also having problems with phone calls? I ring people or receive calls and there’s nothing it silence, not even a ringing sound.

Again have to reset the phone to get it working!

They’ve got no hope of me buying an upgrade to solve a minor issue. I’d sooner go to android with the price of devices going through the roof.

I was going to purchase the new watch but this has put me off big time.

Currently having this issue. Whether it’s over Bluetooth with my Beats Studio Wireless (2nd Gen) or it’s over the EarPods that we’re sent with my phone, I have the same exact issue. Very annoying to go into the music app to switch.

I have another problem as well since 11.0 - 11.02 and that is - I keep my music on "shuffle" and prior to IOS 11 whenever I connected my phone to the car it would pick up where I left off the previous time now I have to reset "shuffle" even time I go into the car.

Same problem!!! This is so annoying. How does basic functionality like this that is so common get through QA? After this and how difficult they have made it to go from High Sierra back to Sierra (after having terrible performance with FCPX), Apple has not made me very happy lately.

Also just noticed that volume indicator doesn't appear when putting volume up or down.

Headphones icon doesn't appear at the top of the screen when connecting my wireless Beats.

This adds to the long list of issues.

Only thing I’ve found is to flat out delete the Music app. The playback controller in iOS before could control audio, video, podcasts, audiobooks from Apple and third party apps. I have a large music library, but it’s so annoying to put in AirPods while listening to a podcast and have music start playing.

The recent iOS 11.0.3 hasn’t solved the problem either. I have Toyota Highlander 2012 Limited. All the songs, be it on the iPhone, Spotify or YouTube use to play without any issues before iOS 11. But no more, I regret updating my phone. The SUV’s Bluetooth works good for making or receiving the calls but doesn’t play any songs from the phone. Please fix this issue Apple Techs.

Well, in addition to my 7, I have an old 5S I’ve been running betas on since before iOS 11 was released. I have 11.1 beta 2 on it and it appears to be resolved in 11.1. I have music on it and played a podcast. I attached Bluetooth headphones to it, and paused the playback with the headphones. I pulled up the control center, and it showed the podcast in the music widget, as it should. On my 7 running 11.0.3, I replicated the same scenario. I paired my headphones played a podcast and paused. In the control center, the music widget is STILL showing music. I’m a little miffed as to why Apple didn’t have the behavior in 11.1 in the original 11.0 release.

Same issue here, was hoping it got fixed in 11.03 but no luck. Also I can’t put phone on speaker during a call. Only earpiece or Bluetooth. When I press the speaker button, it highlights like its active but sound stays thru earpiece... Not sure worth noting but one time I accepted a call when music was playing on Bluetooth speaker thru AirPods and the music that was playing on Bluetooth speaker switched to AirPod along with voice of caller. Really wired.
