iOS 11 Bluetooth music playback bug?

I am currently having an issue with music playback info when connected to my car or a BT speaker? The music plays fine, but the song info (title, artist, album, etc.) is no longer showing up on my car's display or on my phone when connected to a BT speaker. Right now I have my music playing through my Bose BT speaker and when I press my home button to change the song from my lock screen (like you would in any previous iOS), it doesn't show as playing music at all, and the play/pause, skip, and volume controls are all greyed out. If I go into the Music app, everything is normal on my phone, but on the other end (speaker or my car) it still shows no song info. Am I alone? Is this a bug, or can it be fixed?

I have some Jabra Move v2.5.0 bluetooth headphones and everytime I hit the play/pause button on my headset while I am listening to a podcast on my podcast player, pocket cast, the phone will switch to apple music app and then play what I was listening to last, then if I hit the button again it will not pause the song until I unlock my phone. Would like to know what I should do...

(I have an iPhone 6S)

Same here. 11.0.3 not only did NOT solve any of the Bluetooth connection and streaming issues, now i cannot even put the call thought the phone speaker!! iOS 11 has turned my iPhone 7 (which I loved) into a piece of s***.

Apple, what are you doing? How dificult can be to fix?

At least let us downgrade to 10.3 while you catch the bugs. iOS 11 is just unuseable!!

Hi, I have had the same issue since upgrading to ios11.3. Was just about to roll back to 10.

After playing fine in my car, music from Apple Music would just stop playing in the car, but still play on the iPhone 7. I also had volume issues with AirPods. I updated my network settings about 20 times and re-paired. I also found that for some reason I had my volume protection on. Since I have done all that it seems to have improved.

Ok I tried Scott’s fix and it is still working! I reset all settings on the 19th and as of today my phone is actually working how it’s supposed to. I was waiting to get my hopes up because I was afraid it was going to do the same thing as rebooting, work fine for a few hours or a day then go back to screwing up. When you reset all settings you do have to pretty much set the phone up new again so if this didn’t last at LEAST a few days then it would not be worth it for me. I just had Bluetooth issues and I’m glad I tried it. If you’re suffering from the battery drain or other serious issues, maybe give this a shot. Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings.

I have a problem too but with my iPhone connected by usb cable to my pioneer radio car. The steer wheel control buttons next and back work a few times and stop working till i disconnect the usb cable and connect again, then working again a few minutes and again the same problem. And sometimes the music goes to another random song by itself without finishing the current song, without touching no button. Very annoying.

I'm running IOS 11.0.3 on an iPhone 7 connected to a Pioneer stereo. Before IOS 11, the BT playback and track display functions were fine. Since the 11.x upgrade I have had the following problems:

* Track display not getting data. Sometimes it eventually starts, sometimes I have to restart the phone to get it working.

* Really annoying: I set the stereo to FM channel playback while the phone has automatically connected for phone/audio. The iphone now decides to play random music on the phone through the phone speakers after it connects to the stereo. So, now I have to be ready to stop the phone from doing its own thing while I'm listening to FM.

* I've also noticed that the phone is randomly playing and the playback controls on the lock screen indicate that the phone is NOT playing. :-)

This has about broken the spell with me on iPhone. I don't like the direction the new look and feel re-designs each version are going. Might be time for an Android phone again. :-(

@apple

can we get an answer to this ****?

Your update literally broke my phone. It's up to the point were I would consider it useless. Constant freezes. app crashes.

And the worst? I can't control my music anymore as described by OP and anyone else.

My iphone 6s with a 2015 Jeep Renegade is pretty much up to a gamble if music works or not.
whenever I am trying to listen to music on my Bose Mini 2 I can't get any info on the song on my lockscreen whatsoever.

I am usually not the one to complain, but fix this ****!
I was debating on upgrading my phone but **** no.

I have the exact same issue, whereby music via. my own music/ spotify or podcast (via the apple podcast app) all cut out and revert every 5-6 seconds the only way to resolve this is to switch the source back to the phone and then switch back to the blue tooth device either speaker or car. This has only been an issue on my Iphone 8 -was not an issue on my iphone 6s

Same problems since updating to iOS 11. Bluetooth music playback in my 2013 Honda Accord with my 6s is useless, specifically with the pandora app (my car has a pandora app that is supposed to work but now is almost useless since the update). I keep hoping for a fix with the next update but it seems they will never fix it now. Restarting my phone did nothing, uninstalling the pandora app on my phone did nothing, resetting the Bluetooth in my car did nothing. It’s really frustrating. It takes a lot of work to get anything to play and when it does play, the screen on my car flashes when changing songs and doesn’t diplay any song info. It also crashes and doesn’t allow me to skip songs or to rate them.

While searching for a solution on the Pioneer website (the brand of my car nav system) I came across the following page:

https://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/ios11

It seems to be an issue that can be resolved by the manufacturer. My guess is that Apple fixed something that concerns the bluetooth standard in iOS11 and existing bluetooth devices do not respond to this correctly. Only when they have upgradeable firmware the manufacturer can fix it. I think that not many actually will.
