iPhone vibrating randomly

Check your sound settings, because mine were altered after the update. In Settings > Sounds there is a "Sounds and Vibration Patterns" panel, and the "New Voicemail" and "New Mail" settings had been set to "Vibrate". Try turning those and any others you don't want back to "None".

For me it seems to be the haptics that is vibrating, not the normal vibrate.
It always happens when I charge my device and only when it is fully charge or near fully charged, around 1:40AM!
It is just like a faulty power cable or when you plug in and unplug the power cable.
Putting the device on silent doesn't help. Although my phone does not vibrate on silent the haptics for plugging in the power cable still happen.
I have the same problem. It's so sporatic though that it certainly isn't worth me reinstalling my entire phone like a responder has mentioned. Maybe 5 times a day. I have a feeling we aren't alone and that a future update will correct. I will be upgrading to the 8+ from my 6 this week. My wife is taking my 6, so I will certainly check back here and see if it is resolved and report on if the factory reset ceases the issue.
I had this issue. For myself, I figured out it had to do with the built-in mail app (which I never use because I use the GMail app).
The built-in Mail app was causing vibrations for every new email! So to stop this I just logged out of Mail by going to Settings -> Accounts & Passwords, then selecting my account tied to the Mail app and disabling "Mail".
I have an iPhone 6, and after I downloaded the iOS 11 my phone has been vibrating every 5-10 minutes. It has been driving me crazy but nothing seems to be weird in my sounds in settings. And I restarted my phone.
It’s because of the built-in mail app. Most of us are using the Gmail app and neglect that Mail app. The Gmail has Primary Social and Promotions options and we are [usually] only notified for the Primary.
So when a Social or Promotions email comes in, we don’t get notification from the Gmail and it’s the built-in Mail app that signals it.
You can sign out from that app or [maybe, if possible (never tried)] disable notifications from it. But I think, knowing this now, it won’t be annoying anymore. Sooo, no need.
I have tried everything listed to resolve the random vibration problems and the only way to stop my mine from doing it is to turn off "Vibrate on Ring". If I switch that off, I no longer get the random vibrations. It has to be a software bug that showed up around 11.0.1. I am already on the 11.2 beta and the problem still exists. I can live with the phone not vibrating while ringing to alleviate the problem but I shouldn't have to. Apple needs to fix the bug.
yeah me to. I set the vibration when "Ring" and "Silent". so it should be vibrate when my phone is on Silent mode. but my phone keep silent without vibrating when got some new notifications. btw I upgrade to iOS 11.0.3. It's so unbelievable that iOS 11 has so many bugs
I have a similar problem, the Ringer goes on or off spontaneously, with 2-3 vibrations. I have a 6S upgraded to iOS 11.1.2
UPDATE: I checked my phone with our IT person, we feel it is a hardware issue as I can reproduce the problem when lightly touching the side switch. New phone on the way...
My phone rings randomly once I open the settings app even when it’s on silent, the problem came along with me from my IPhone 7 Plus to the iPhone X. I have spoken to the technical support and followed all the steps which they have provided but still didn’t solve the issue. They have suggested a replacement which I know for a fact that it will not resolve the problem.
Yes, same thing is happening to me except for me it is a single vibrate pulse. When the charge is disconnected, there’s are two short pulses. This is something new and different (and a bit frustrating, as well).
Its not a random vibration, its a background vibration. If you have sent messages over what's app or any other messenger and recipient read it later, whenever he/she will read it is gonna give you feedback.
This may not be necessary. See my message about changed settings.
This solved my issue.
