I upgraded my iPhone 6 Plus to iOS 11 and the helpful extra keys previously appearing on both sides when switching to landscape in v10 have disappeared. Can I get them back somehow?

Addendum, was able to find the GBoard app in the Apple App Store using my iPhone. Originally I had searched on my MacBook Pro. That may be the reason I was unable to find it initially. I have installed GBoard and I'm pleased to say it again looks like extended keyboard of old. :-) Yay! and thank you!
The thing is whether you use the landscape mode with two thumbs. They've made it better for one handed typing but who does that in landscape mode? Please bring back the old keyboard with the cursor arrows and the period and comma buttons. I use them....sort of....a lot!!!
I doubt it was done intentionally due to how sloppy the removal of those buttons was implemented.
(The empty space where the buttons used to be actually enters keys that are not there.)
AND if it was done intentionally it was a terrible decision because they replaced those buttons with NOTHING.
This forum is for feedback and that is what people are providing.
Saying another keyboard is available is not relevant to the feedback, but it does point out another reason why it is a bad change for apple. Why would Apple want to implement a change that forces people to use a competitor's product, no matter how inconsequential (and I'm not saying the keyboard is)?
It's just a bad change all around.
I did let Apple know very kindly their error and hopefully they will consider bringing it back as an option, even if not default. It was excellent before destroying it. Gboard I was not able to figure out how to bring back the arrow keys, but SwiftKey keyboard is wonderful so far and easy to configure.

I am 100% in agreement! And yes, Apple replaced useful buttons with SPACES!! That is ridiculous. This is certainly a big screw up.
"Configuration menu." Can you clarify that? Settings->General->?? I would prefer to have some of those key options back but I don't know where this "configuration menu" is that you're referencing.
Why are you referencing MochaVNC configurations? This thread and keyboard issue has nothing to do with MochaVNC.
I also lost the helpful side buttons on the landscape keyboard after upgrading to iOS11 on my iPhone 6.
Has anyone found a way to reengage the helpful side keys? This is a glaring ommision from iOS, and I am personally ****** that Apple decided to remove these keys. I bought the iPhone 7 Plus specifically because it offered greater productivity features, and landscape options were a major part of that decision. Why Apple has seen fit to remove these helpful options in lieu of blank space is beyond me.
Thanks for the info anypats. I went out to the app store and was unable to find an app with the name GBoard, there weren't any results to the search. If you have any hints for me, please let me know. 😁

It caused me to regularly delete large blocks of text. It was one of the reasons I stopped using Messages in landscape.

I just upgraded tonight and have the same issue. I like the convenience of having those keys on the side.
Well apparently I just found out that you have to hit your space bar twice and the period will appear to end a sentence. I still don't like it.
I was unable to find apps for different keyboards... Do you have any examples that you can tell me about?
