Safe Note app after iOs 11 Update

I just upgrades my ios on my 7+

After doing so my app "safe note" does not work.

It says the developer of this app needs to update it to work with iOS 11

It then says this app is not currently available in the store. Contact the app developer for more information.

#1 I have no idea who the developer is

#2 I used this to store ALL of my passwords for EVERYTHING

Is there anyway I can get the information out of this app?

This is my solution for our problem with safe Note v3 in iOS11.

1. Download iPhone BackUP extractor (demo version);

2. Select the BackUp containing your SafeNote (the last working backUp for me, created before updating to iOS 11);

3. When iPhoneBackUP extractor terminates the scan, Select SafeNote in the list of APP present in your BackUP;

4. The number of file and Database recorded in Safe Note will be displayed (see figure attached);

User uploaded file

5. Select "All databases: Extract 1" (the free version of "iPhone BackUP extractor" allow you to extract limited number of files. We need the only one I indicated)

6. The "iPhone BackUP extractor" will save the following file (for example on your desktop): "\library\ProvateDocuments\CoreDataNotes.sqlite"

7. You can open this file with TextEdit and you can browse it in order to recover your password, otherwise you can download the software (freeware) "DB Browser for SQLite" [Releases · sqlitebrowser/sqlitebrowser · GitHub] and Browse data fo database and export every note saved in Safe Note in a natty way.

I hope this helps everything have my same problem.

The solution from EmuX definitely works and I got back every single record from Safe note!

Here is the link for the extractor

https://www.iphonebackupextractor.com/free-download/

Here is the link for the DB Browser

DB Browser for SQLite (use this to open the sqlite file that iphonebackupextractor creates

http://sqlitebrowser.org

As EmuX said, make sure you are n the Browse Data Tab and in the main window on left side, scroll right until you see the column headings ZTitle and ZText – this is where you should find all your missing records

User uploaded file

Then on the DB Browser menu right at the top of your screen (when you have DB browser open), there is an option to export your information as a csv file .... there will be a few columns of rubbish that you do not need but all your data should be there - if it works as well as it did for me

Ok, I got my notes back. I downloaded this app called SQL Pro (lite) https://www.sqlitepro.com/ I used my Mac but I think they have a windows version.

Plug your phone into your mac and then install this program. When you open the program (CoreDataNotes.sqlite) it will read the SQL files on your phone (that's what safenote uses for a file type) That will bring up a screen with a bunch of jibberish that was way beyond me but... On the left side of the screen, you will see a "Tables" menu. The top item in that menu is called "ZTEM" and it will have a row number under that in small type. That number likely corresponds to the number of notes you had. Highlight that ZTEM and on the right side in the main window, you will see 4 headings in the top center of the screen. Select "Data" and you will see a whole lot of fields in a spreadsheet format. Scroll to the right and in that screen, you will find your notes. Under the headings "Ztitle" and "Ztext" you will likely have all your notes. Now, depending on the amount of info in each note the window won't show the whole note. Here is what I did to get the notes.

I opened the notes app and created a new note. I typed the title in to save time but you could copy and paste it from Ztitle, then in the Ztext field, you double-click to highlight the field. It will go blank but don't worry, it's just fine, then right click,

copy and paste it into your new note and poof the note is transferred. Do that for each note and you will transfer all the notes to the mac.

I got all my data. Didn't have to revert or screw up my iPhone. Thanks to multiple other users who helped. I am a Windows user.

1. Backup iPhone to computer (yes, now that you have upgraded to IOS 11).

2. download/use "IPhone Backup Extractor" to access new backup. Click on Apps, Select Safenote App. Extract Database (1) at the bottom. Save somewhere (documents)

3. download/use "DB Browser for SQLite". Select database. Click Browse Data tab. Scroll over - Zdata is the title of your note. Ztext is the data in the note which is displayed to the right. Export to text file and then copy and paste the data with spaces and returns into the text file. Laborious depending on how many notes you have, but all data up to the point of your transition to IOS11 is there!

now I just need to find a nice app to replace safenote.

This happened to me too! I stumbled across this hack and it saved the day! Did you ever create a backup of your safe notes? If you did, you can change the extension from .safenotebackup to .zip and extract the zip file. It will extract your notes as .txt files.

Wow, you pay for an app that does nothing but simply compress the file! What so safe about that. What a Rip off.

Hi

Had the same problems as all of you here- had over 150 notes with password / logon information

for myself and a lot of my family members...(parents etc..)

Really had a big problem after installing IOS11.

Tryed to downgrade to IOS 10.3.3 but no luck after several attemps on different computers...

Luckily I had an backup from before I updated to IOS11- disabled automatic update on phone

so I didn't overwrite with a IOS11 backup..

Was desperate so I did desperate things....

Borrowed my wife's Iphone 6 (I have 6s) and she had luckily not upgraded to IOS11 yet - and managed to use

Itunes to set this phone up as mine.(used mine pre IOS11 backup on my wife's phone).

Managed then to access the "Safe Note" app and took screenshots of all of my notes and backed this up

in some "cloud" I have....

Then reinstalled my wife's software on her phone- and everything is ok !

So IF you have a pre IOS11 backup - try to get hold of a pre IOS11 phone and load the backup on this- then

save the notes as you like (pictures / screenshots).

If my wife didn't have this phone I really would think of the option to buy a second hand phone and to sell it again after.

Hopefully this is an idea which might help some of you out there.

Good luck.

I had same issue. This is how I rescued all of my passwords and secure info.

I bought an old iPhone 6 for $100 that did not have IOS 11 on it. Did a clean wipe on it, then put in my simcard, set up the iPhone and did a iPhone restore from my backup. The app and all of my info was there. I opened the Safe Notes app and took screenshots of every page with my info. Then I emailed the photos to my email account. I then wiped the iPhone and sold it for $100.

Pain in in the rear but I rescued all of my informatio.

This is THE BEST thing I have seen all week (and may be the best solution short of the developer being able to update the app.. I'll still ask him about that), but let me go one further for everyone: THIS METHOD WORKS FOR iOS11 BACKUPS TOO. So as long as you still have Safe Note on your phone right now, just go back it up to your PC/Mac. The free extractor at www.iphonebackupextractor.com (the "Lite" version allows 4 files to be exported).

Basically this means you can salvage the very latest info that you put into Safe Note.

I recommend #7 above, because opening the .sqlite file in notepad or whatever is very difficult to organize; it has a ton of nonsense symbols.

With DB Browser for SQlite, you just Open the Database (that you got from the exractor), Click on the "Browse Data" tab, with the "Table" pull down set to ZITEM, you can then scroll to the Right until you see the headers for your saved notes under ZTITLE. The contents will be under ZTEXT a few columns over.

Then Export the ZTEXT content as a text file (give it the same name as your Note Header maybe..?), and that is basically it. It will be a lot of work to put all the info back into another app, but at least the info is now salvageable!

THANK YOU EmuX!! GREAT Job!

We were warned but yes I'm in the same boat. Download IExplorer (iPhone Music, Messages & File Transfer for Mac & PC · iExplorer) and connect your iPhone to PC/Mac. If you have a back up you can open it and look for App folder for folder com.sonnybunny.safenote. There under Library/Private Documents is a file CoreDataNotes.sqlite. Export that file. Next download The SQLite command-line client, which can be downloaded at http://www.sqlite.org.

There's notes on how to run it here: https://www.safaribooksonline.com/library/view/hacking-and-securing/978144932521 3/ch04s02.html

Issue command sqlite3.exe CoreDataNotes.sqlite to open database in SQLite command line. Enter: Select ZTEXT from ZITEM;

and there's all your notes data (from the last backup).

I found a way to recover stored data. Here are the steps:

1. Download and install iExplorer for Windows or Mac (iPhone Music, Messages & File Transfer for Mac & PC · iExplorer)

2. Plug-in your phone (you should see that iExplorer shows the phone properly)

3. Click on the "Backup"/"Backup Explorer" and create a backup (takes quite some time)

4. Look for "com.sonnybunny.safenotefree" (or filter with "safe" in "Search iExplorer")

5. Open "Library" / "Private Documents"

6. Right click and export to PC "CoreDataNotes.sqlite"

Now dump with sqlite client the content of the file (all DB tables). For example on Debian linux you can do it from terminal running:

"sqlite3 CoreDataNotes.sqlite .dump"

You will find you data inserted into table "ZITEM".

Bit technical but saved me. Hope this helps you too!

Hi,

I downloaded iPhone backup software from a company called Reincubate. I had more than the free allowance of 4 files, so paid £30. I was struggling with it a little as my tech knowledge is limited, the guys were so helpful. They guided me through each step for extraction and then the decryption. Couldn’t be happier, I now have all my info from safenote in text format. I hope this helps anyone else who has this issue.

Feb 17, 2018 9:30 AM in response to JORYNNRACE

Thank you so much JORYNRACE and EmuX!!!

You saved me! I have been sulking for 4 days now. I have kept all of my valuable information in Safe Note for many years now. Any time I have changed iPhones I have always double checked to make sure the information was on the new one before I reset my old one. This past Tuesday night I was in a hurry and it was getting late. I figured the info always transferred before why wouldn’t it now? I hit the factory reset! I went back to the new phone tried to open Safe Note and BAM! The app couldn’t be downloaded because it is no longer available in the App Store and as I dug into it even if it was available it wouldn’t work with the latest Apple update. 😢 I’m no computer genius and figured my information was lost forever. I restored the old phone! I had chosen not to update it Thank God! But again the app wasn’t available. I got an even older phone out tried to transfer the app but my Mac wouldn’t allow it. I got out my old Windows computer. Backed up the old old iPhone 5 was able to transfer the app to the old iPhone 6 but my information was gone. 😫😖😡. I kept researching and ran into EmuX. Ok,,,, we may have an out. Downloaded extractor and DB for SQLite. Followed the directions and something was happening. Yes we have information!!!’ But it looks like hieroglyphics. I researched DB/SQLite and couldn’t find a way to interpret the information. This was way deeper than my tech ability. if I had any hope I figured it was with my old iPhone 6. I received my replacement phone on Tuesday and have 5 days to return the old one. 5 days would be Sunday and at this point it was Thursday. I needed to get it sent back now. Screw it! I’m keeping it trying once more over the weekend

and hoping I don’t get a charge from Verizon. After all 5 BUSINESS days will be Tuesday so hopefully they don’t count the weekend. Here it is,, Saturday mid morning and I run across JORYNNRACE whom simply says to scroll to the right under Browse Data and ZITEM in DB Browser for SQLite. TahDah. There are all of my notes!!! I cannot thank you enough. I feel like I should be sending you both checks. I wish I could really show you how much I appreciate your posts. 💗😘💕
