Since iOS11 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting

Since I upgraded to OS11 my iPhone 6 keeps disconnecting from the Bluetooth in my car, a Mazda 6 2015 vintage. To reconnect I have to select the phone on my cars infotainment unit and off it goes working for a while longer until it again disconnects mid song. This didn’t occur prior to OS11, any ideas?

I'm having similar problems. At first it would pair with my car, but nothing worked and it kept dropping and reconnecting. I searched online and found suggestions, and tried them all except for factory resetting my iPhone 8 and starting over. So far I'm at the point where I deleted my phone from the car, deleted all bluetooth pairings from the phone. Turned off the car, turned off bluetooth on the phone, and restarted the phone. At this point I started the car, turned bluetooth back on on the phone and repaired. The connect/disconnect/reconnect is still happening, but not as frequently (minutes instead of seconds), and when it is connected, everything appears to work. I hope they can fix this in a new firmware and it isn't a hardware problem. I do also have my iPhone paired to our home phone, and I'm not having the same problem with it. It's not a signal strength issue as I have have my iPhone on another floor in the furthest point in the house from the base station that it is paired to, and the bluetooth still works.

Hello Pathfineroz,

I was having the same problem with my Bluetooth devices continuously disconnecting and then reconnecting on the iPhone after the iOS 11 update. It did this with all Bluetooth devices such as my car, powerbeats, etc. I use my Bluetooth headphones at the gym and on runs so you can see how this was a huge annoyance for me.

Anyways, this morning I was reading some articles and came across one that suggested I should reset all networks. I did that along with hitting the “forget this device” feature. I’ve been using my Bluetooth wireless headphones ever since I did that (for a little over an hour) and voila I haven’t had any disconnection issues!

I am not tech savvy whatsoever and I didn’t read through all of the comments in this discussion so hopefully I am not being repetitive and I am able to provide some assistance.

Before I upgraded to iOS 11.0.2, I was stream music via Bluetooth to my Audioengine HD6 speakers effortlessly for hours without a single drop.

Now my Bluetooth connection drops the minute I hit play in iTunes. I tried resetting the phone after many other recommendations, but nothing works. I think it is a firmware problem that needs to addressed soon or I will dump Apple altogether in favor of a device that uses the apt-x codec and reliable Bluetooth.

Certainly no solution, but I bought myself a Chinese android phone for $150 just to test, of course deleted crap apps first.

In the end I came to a conclusion, why the hack do I buy a expensive Apple phone? This is just a Bluetooth and WiFi problem, how the hack is Apple testing, why do we pay that amount of money?????

Since Steve died, Apple is starting to be crap.

In the end my daughter wanted my iPhone :-) But guess what I've iPhone again and see wanted my Android :-)

So ordered a new one.

I have to say, I was also triggered by my son, who is buying every year a new Android, he is saying "For that price i've a lot more and if it breaks I buy a new one"

I've got a peripheral which worked fine on iOS 10 and below. On iOS 11, it's reproducibly disconnecting after 90 seconds without any reason. A network reset didn't help here.

Is there any chance apple will officially confirm the reported issues and fix them with the next release(s)?

This issue of frequent disconnection is only when playing Apple Music through bluetooth on the car stereo, but all the other apps such as Audible work just fine. The issue has surfaced only after this last iOS upgrade to 11.0.2.

I have tried un-pairing and re-pairing my phone from/to the car stereo, but it did not help.

Please get this issue resolved at the earliest.

Same problem still present on iOS 11.0.2, on Fiat vehicles and also Lancia and Alfa Romeo, please Apple fix it as soon as possible since it is basically impossible to use car bluetooth! 😢

Until iOS 10 it worked well so it has to be a software issue regarding the iOS 11 update.

Yep - I have an SRS-XB40 and it worked 100% perfect in my iPhone 7 Plus with iOS10. The day I got iOS11 it started giving me endless issues.

It’ll play OK for a little bit (30 min) if I reset network settings. But then it’ll start cutting out in quick succession until eventually it just drops completely and pauses the music on my phone.

Really disappointed in how long already it’s been an issue.

It's bad enough Apple forced everybody into using Bluetooth, but it's a **** Greek Tragedy that Bluetooth doesn't even work in iOS 11.0.2. Another annoyance is my text messages won't scroll if I'm writing a text. And what's with the clock showing the incorrect time? This is ********!

This better be fixed soon. I am eligible for an upgrade with Verizon, and I just might dump Apple altogether if I am not completely satisfied.

Hi there,

I’ve tried many things to get this working, the support unfortunately didn’t help, I tried re-connecting my Bluetooth device, it’s a Bluetooth fm transmitter for my car, km20 to be specific. Anyways reconnecting it doesn’t help, I tried turning off WiFi and Bluetooth completely, restarting then turning back on and connecting to the device, didn’t help, I tried resetting the network settings, repeating the disconnect Bluetooth and re-connect, still no good.

My problem is that it disconnects randomly, sometimes it takes 10 minutes, other times 40, I notice this since I frequently drive for an hour each day, and having to re-connect it is a pain. This wasn’t a problem with iOS 10 or a Google Pixel I tried, just with my new iPhone 8 Plus Bluetooth 5.0 with iOS 11. I feel like my phone is trying to kill off battery draining apps, sort of like having Pokémon go and a Bluetooth headset connected, it would stop Pokémon go and keep my music going. Just a guess.

When is Apple going to fix this ENORMOUS problem? Bluetooth is at the core of their technology. I believe it is a firmware problem, but I also run into problems with text messages. When I open the app I cannot scroll down to the last message in the thread. This is really annoying.

I've been having issues (on a 7 & 7+) since 11.0.2 with a Cambridge Audio G2 Bluetooth speaker.

Never had a problem before, not one dropped connection or bad sound quality.

After both updates were 'forced' onto my phone, each phone connects to the speaker but won't play audio out of it. Have tried restarting, forgetting networking, etc and still no hope.

iOS 11 on iPhone seems pretty buggy for me at least!

Just tried it with my brand-new iPhone 8: Unfortunately exactly the same problem😟. It clearly is iOS11 (v11.02) as I had this problem never before and other devices like my son's Samsung phone have no problems connecting to the car's Bluetooth system.
