iOS 11 on iPad Pro 9.7 very slow

I got the iPad Pro 9.7 128GB for its speed and performance.

I got this device for about 60k and now on iOS 11 it feels like im using iOS 10 on iPhone 5.

it lags a lot. all the animations have a stutter. And everything takes forever to load. It’s not smooth. It is visually depressing to see a new device perform this way. Please find a way to solve this. And also please could someone else confirm if their device is performing in a similar way. I have tried hard resetting and also even restored to get the same exact results. Please help.

iPad Pro Wi-Fi, iOS 11, null

Other things to look at.

In Settings app, General settings panel, turn OFF Background App Refresh.

In Settings app, under General settings, Reset panel, at the right bottom of the list, Reset All Settings.

Also, in general, if you want a faster IDevice, on all of my iDevices, I turn off most of the iOS motion graphics eye candy, by simply turning ON Reduce Motion in Settings app, General, Accessibilty settings.

Make sure you aren't running scads and scads of background apps in the iOS 11 Control Panel/App Switcher.

If you are, you need to quit the bulk of these background running apps by tap and hold a finger on an app window in the switcher and slide your finger upwards to quit an app. You should be able to use more than one finger to quit more than one app simultaneously.

Also, make sure you don’t have scads and scads of active website tabs running in the web browser.

If you do, greatly reduce the amount of active website tabs your web browser.

Hey Michel! I’m back. Not to harass you or anything. Mainly to say that I have the same issues with my original iPad Pro. None of your solutions have fixed my problems. Also, I have seen threads where brand new iPad Pros experience the same issues. I feel like this is an issue that Apple may need to look into. I know that I would immediately return my iPad Pro if simply upgrading to the new OS within a few days of buying it resulted in laggy performance. Sadly, I’m too far gone. But if this issue isn’t resolved, I will surely attempt to revert to iOS 10. I have yet to feel any improvements to the OS with my specific use case. Literally everything is slower and laggier and takes more steps to accomplish the tasks that I did in less than a second in the old OS. Is there any response from Apple regarding these issues?

Sorry I can’t help but I too am having sismilar problems. iPad Pro 9.7 about 4 months old, suddenly slowed down, it seemed overnight. Problem affects loading web pages. Same page loads twice as quickly on my old iPad Air and my iPhone 6s. I have tried reset all settings and turning off Bluetooth with no improvement. No help but the more people report the more likely (maybe) some sort of fix might result.

I wasn't really addressing you, BTW.

digmac8 had stated that they he/she just purchased a new 12.9 inch iPad and it was already running slow.

I was trying to determine if this was an older or new or used 12.9 inch screen iPad Pro or not.

A new iPad Pro, right out of the sealed box, should NOT be slow.

digmac8 has just decided to whine, moan and groan, instead.

Not everyone has issues with Apple Software updates.

I have been an Apple user for over 20 years. Never encountered any issues with any of my computers or devices

It’s always a very smart and prudent idea to always perform a backup before doing ANY major computer or mobile device system upgrade/update, to have insurances, in case that something goes wrong with a particular OS upgrade/update.

I have a nearly 10 year old iMac that is STILL running OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks and it runs great on my iMac.

While I have another hard drive with OS X El Capitán on it, I have to stay with OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks due to older, legacy software constraints.

The ONLY THING most users were upset and angry about in OS X 10.9 Mavericks, AND to this day, was the removal of colored folders replaced by a tiny colored dot, for folder and data organisation!

Mac OS user feedback STILL exists. Apple NEVER got rid of it!

Here’s the EXACT feedback page here.

https://www.apple.com/feedback/macos.html

So, I don't know why you think Apple got rid of their Mac OS feedback page, they didn’t!

Why purchase an expensive Pad Pro if you never plan to ever update it?

I use mine as a creative tool and sketchbook and many of the apps I use keep getting better with every iOS upgrade/update.

All of my drawing/painting/sketching apps got a big boost for me when I upgraded my iPad Pro.

You must NOT use an iPad/iPad Pro or MacBook Pro for any real work, then?

Paranoid much?

I have, at least, upgraded my computer and device OSes when I felt I needed to.

I have NEVER, EVER felt forced to upgrade/update my Apple stuff from Apple or anyone else.

I usually wait quite awhile before I do any Apple computer or device upgrades/updates.

The feedback page was public in the App Store, now it's not. This doesn't make any sense to me. Why would you do that? I think they did it to cover the fact that they were receiving too much bad feedbacks, and most of them were talking about bugs and slow performances.

Of course it's still public. I just looked at it. Michel gave you the link to it.

Some professions, like yours, sometimes it's best NOT to constantly upgrade/update computers and devices, but sometimes, especially in the some creative industries, you need to stay up to date and keep moving with the technology curve.

I have been only a part time working professional, now, for a few years, due to health reasons, so I use the older tools I still have and still work and work for me to create, produce and edit local client video projects and my own video projects.

I use older versions of Apple Final Cut (Final Cut Express) AND Logic Express for most of my video and music work.

i also create digital art and graphics and create marketing materials to promote my work, both as an artist and part-time videographer. I also, do home music production and use recording software both on my iPad Pro AND on my Mac.

My music gear is on the "vintage” side of things, but it all still works, but I am NOT a professional music producer.

I do offer my services as a musician to add my own original music to client video work, though, if they want to pay for the extra costs associated with that activity.

So, I do understand where your thoughts are at.

But, as a full-time professional in your area of expertise, you should be keeping up on the latest technologies and software available to you, no?

I DO realise that you get the job done with the tools you have and use, though.

So, yeah, it can feel like you are between a rock and a hard place with all of the technology currently available.

As you don't get iOS updates from the App Store, there's no reason it would be there. It never has been to my knowledge. As for the macOS, you now download it in a similar way to iOS so there's no reason to have it in the App Store. And, a page of public reviews is not a the feedback page. There are reviews aplenty for pretty much everything on the internet if that's what you want. Reviews from random people are very often worth what you pay for them, though.

yeah I was talking about the mac os.
What I see is that I can still download the latest Mac OS from the AppStore just like before.
All the apps on the AppStore (by Apple or other developers) have the reviews section but Mac OS hasn't it anymore..
I'm not condemn them for this, but at least you have to admit that it's a little weird.
I think they thought that people was afraid to update their mac os due the bad reviews on the download page.
the last mac OS's reached 2-3 stars at the max...so they get rid of it

yes, exactly.
Anyway until now I've been able to update all the software I needed.
I know there will come a time where I won't be able to update any software anymore, but I'll survive for quite some time even then.

OT:

Beside the Software part, one of the most important things to me though it's being able to interface my computer with a lot of hardware devices (A/D converters, USB's, firewire ports, thunderbolt). I can't imagine how many adapters I would need if I were using new macbook pro's

As an aside, with my mid 2012 15" macbook pro I have the chance to improve my ram up to 16gb if I wish to do so, or add a secondary SSD, I have jack optical in, headphones out, card reader, firewire 800, thunderbolt, ethernet, 2 USB port, DVD reader, and I still use them all. This means "pro" to me, not only power but also a lot of i/o ports and upgradabilty

Cheers
