Apple Notes keeps crashing in iOS11

Hope you can help me, I appreciate your input and suggestions. FYI... I usually upgrade my iPhone every two years and upgrade to the most advanced Apple device that Apple offers. I’ve been using my current iPhone 7+ 256gb for almost a year now, with no issues. I have been using Apple Notes for many years with no issues prior to my recent upgrade to iOS11. I just upgraded to iOS 11 the day of the release and have now noticed that Notes is always crashing. I do use Notes quite extensively. After a couple a crashes, I think tried exiting Notes, it often resets itself and then crashes again. I have tried both hard and soft re-boots, but that doesn’t help... Any ideas? Thanks in advance... Rob

My problem seems to be solved. I went back and compared my most recent notes on the iPhone against the same notes in iCloud. Found about 15 that were out of sync (the iPhone version was correct since that is where I edit most of them, thus confirming what I knew before: that my sync problem was originating on the iPhone). I then copied each of the notes that were out of sync emailed them to myself, and copied and pasted them into my Mac notes app. They all synced fine through iCloud and onto my iPhone. I then went back a year to verify there were no problems with other notes. All other notes were in sync. I then turned note off on my iPhone, this deleting them from the device. I lastly turned Notes on in my iPhone. All downloaded from iCloud to my iPhone. I tested the sync process by creating a new note on my iPhone. It IMMEDIATELY synced to both iCloud and my Mac. Problem solved!

Ooh yes. Been there, done that too. First few days, it worked like charm in my iphone and ipad. But few days after, the problem of crashing and lagging was back. LOL. Im using Bear app for now. *sigh*

It’s good to hear that the Public release is coming soon. For whatever their reasons, some users have stayed away from the betas and still continue to have these issues. For me, the betas have been the answer, as they have been for so many others. When they do make the public release available, I’m sure this problem will become a thing of the past.

How long has it been since you tried this? I predict the same problem will arise again. Other than beta users of iOS 11, I haven't seen a single solution posted here that has worked on a long term basis. Give the app a week or app and the update your experience here again please.

I tried it long enough that was longer than the usual time before it starts to crash again. It just works the way it should now. Usually it craps out after a few hours, but it's couple days and smooth as butter even on my 6S

Awesome news. Glad to hear. The more daring of us knew months ago that this latest iOS would do the trick by having utilized the beta versions of it since then with zero problems of any kind.

Now, maybe we can all put this episode behind us and go back to using the devices and systems we all know and love. Either way, I think Apple could have done a better job of taking care of the issues for everyone a long time ago.

This has been disappointing.

I am not having any luck getting any old notes to load on my iPhone X or iPad Pro.

I used dates both to iOS 11.3 last night, turned he Notes app back on and let it run over night. iCloud notes just stay at “0”.

@robert.burns, Thanks for this thread and agree - great to see the community help each other. It's a shame and a disappointment Apple still, even with the fix hasn't even acknowledged this bug and fix for notes in the 11.3 changelog. Especially since this has been going on for months of buying an expensive new iPhone X!

I still have this problem. To be clear, my Notes on iOS 11.3 is not crashing but just freezing for extended periods (30 seconds?) regularly under certain conditions. It has got a bit better since 11.0 but it is still MOST annoying when one just wants to jot down some quick notes. I have a few thousand notes in iCloud notes but also a number of other accounts (Google etc) tha don’t have more than a few notes. Very annoying.

This is definitely not solved at all. The issue of notes crashing continuously is obviously an iOS 11 issue that is still ongoing.

Hi Robert,

The Note app that I have issue with is on my iPad!

So far, I don't have any issues with Mac's Note.
