It’s intermittent - on some calls you can perfectly notice it on others no problem. I have already tried resetting the phone with no success on solving the problem. I’m dealing with the issue since Friday. Very disappointed!

Yes very sure it is the same problem. Static / crackling noise. Exactly how it is described by so many.
It could be that you're unfortunate enough to have some kind of defective unit. Happened to me in the past.

Just get the Samsung Note 8. I returned the iPhone 8 Plus after experiencing issues. Samsung Note 8 is flawless also looks better too. I got fed up with the iPhone design very boring.
Enjoy your Galaxy and I hope that continue to have no problems with it. But other than that the vast majority of people here don't care what phone you purchased.

Apple has confirmed in a statement to The Verge that an upcoming iOS update will fix an annoying software bug affecting some iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 owners who have reported hearing intermittent crackling sounds or static noise during both cellular and FaceTime calls.
An Apple spokesperson told the publication.
We are aware of the issue which is affecting customers in a small number of cases. Our team is at work on a fix, which will be included in an upcoming software release.
Well, this morning I updated the device to 11.01, no fix. Ticking noise in my earpeace is is still happening. I am using both the earbuds and the connector with my own set of Bose earphones.
So, should we return the device altogether?
I’m afraid you can’t order online. you have to shop it at a store. Pay, try 10 calls to your voice mail, if it’s ok great you have great new iPhone 8. If not then return it and try another - same exercise as above - until you find one with no defect. Production defect!
It wouldn't be the first time that Apple was faced with returns. They know how to handle it.
But Apple has already said it is a problem with a small number of iPhones and will be fixed with a software update. They have the returned units they collected and have been able to disassemble and test them with new software. Somewhere here has already said that the update worked.
What evidence do you have that this is not correct?
Had this problem as well on new iPhone 8 Plus. After updating I'm getting a popping sound when listening to audio on the phone's speakers, like listening to the Podcast app, or Audiobooks. Doesn't seem to do it when connected to a bluetooth speaker. Really annoying.
