iPhone 8 bluetooth issues

My new iPhone 8 is having all kinds of wonkiness with bluetooth. It refused to pair with my AirPods, repeatedly dropped connection to my 2016 car, routinely loses connection with my series 1 watch and refused to connect to unlock my laptop (all things that I had no issues with before moving over from my iPhone 6). Apple support told me to erase all content, reset and go through a reinstall from a backup (and all the password re-entry etc.) which I did wasting a couple hours of my day. Their remote diagnostic said bluetooth was fine and some of my apps (none to be named) had problems necessitating this restoration from backup. Needless to say, the issue does not seem solved. Anyone else having bluetooth issues with the iPhone 8? All of these bluetooth connectivity issues worked flawlessly on the 6 (with iOS11 and all prior iterations I had) so I may just sent the 8 back and live w/ my 3 year old battery for a while longer.....

Possible fix to some of the issues. We had an appointment at the Apple Store last night and discussed this issue with them. My wife's Ford Explorer was dropping the bluetooth out intermittently during phone calls and even when not in a phone call. Her watch would also disconnect at times. The weird thing was we discovered that she could play music and it would not drop out when streaming music through bluetooth. We told the Apple Genius that we had restored the phone from a backup several times and that did not fix the issue. The Apple Genius felt strongly that the backup had something corrupt about it so he suggested that we restore this as a new phone and not restore from the backup any longer. We had to manually save all of the photos and contacts to a hard drive before doing this. Once we restored this phone as a new phone, we then added all of the photos and contacts again from the hard drive. We also had to add all of the apps manually. Finally, we tested making phone calls several times and we have not had an issue once. This may help some of you in the future. It is a long process so be prepared for this to take a few hours depending on the amount of files that you have. Good luck!

I've had the iPhone 8 plus for 4 days and just updated to iOS 11.0.3. I've had no problem with Bluetooth connection to my 2015 Jeep Cherokee's Uconnect or my sister's Bluetooth radio device in her car, but I can't connect to my Taotronics Bluetooth Headphones no matter what I do!

After reading all of the comments of people restoring their phones in hopes to fix the Bluetooth problems with no luck, I probably won't try it...at least until I get really desperate.

Apple HELP!!!!!!

We have 2 brand new iPhone8s running iOS 11.0.3 and a 2012 Mini Cooper.

Prior to acquiring these new phones (like 30 minutes before), two iPhone5s running iOS10+ were bullet proof with the car. Absolutely seamless and had been ever since the iPhone5s units were purchased, including thru all iOS upgrades to 10.

Neither new iPhone8 will pair with the car. We've done all the tricks (Bluetooth on-off, reboot, network reset, etc.). Nothing. And yes we have done the on-off in Settings, not Control Center (which apparently only disconnects you the user and does not toggle the Bluetooth - it remains on).

Since this is a problem showing up in BMW, Honda, Ford and many other brands, Apple has no basis for passing this back to the car dealer.

Details: Bluetooth will see the Mini Cooper as an "Other Device" with a delay only after the Mini requests pairing, but never before. After you request pairing from the Mini, the iPhone will see it as an "Other Device" along with its correct ID code, but will never generate a passkey. It simply hangs until the Mini times out, which happens before the iPhone times out. The the iPhone reports a pairing failure.

Reminder: The Mini Cooper saw the old phones fine. So I upgraded one iPhone 5s to iOS 11. Now it will not pair and shows the same behavior as the iPhone 8 models.

All phones still pair pair nicely with our headsets, etc using iOS 11, but not our car.

It is unambiguously an iOS11 problem, not iPhone model, or car model, or user failures.

Mine definitely needs to be in my purse. I’ve noticed though it works best in my purse on the front seat. In my purse on the backseat seems to be problematic. I tried putting my phone in the leather pouch behind my chairs, that doesn’t work either. It’s very sensitive as to where it’s at, whether it works or not. But so far the best is my purse, front seat.

My problem with the Bluetooth is that at times, even though the iPhone 8 is connected to my vehicle, I have no problem with my Audible app. My phone app is another story. It will work fine for a couple of days and then the phone rings, it will start to answer on the Bluetooth and then switch to the iPhone speaker. At times, it will be connected to Bluetooth, but when I get a call, it will not show on my screen in the car. I’ve tried to restart, remove all Bluetooth devices, reset network settings and reset all settings. I guess the next step is completely erase the phone. My work phone (Galaxy S7) has no problems at all.

I chatted with Apple Support last week and explained about the Bluetooth problems I had and all of the steps I’d taken. The CSR researched the problem and then told me what to try and I was shocked. She simply said, go to Settings/General/About and change the name of the iPhone. That’s it. I’m happy to say, that did it for me.

Granted, before that, I had reset Network settings and then All settings. I’m just surprised it worked. I’m just not sure why it worked.

I have the same intermittent issues as nearly everyone has described in this thread. I drive a 2011 Mazda CX9 and a 2011 Mazda SP25, my iphone 6 worked without a hitch then i received a new iphone 8 courtesy of my job, now the phone will not maintain a connection in either car. I just hope my voice will add to the many other voices and this will be fixed, I have been to the dealer and they have had other customers with similar issues. I have tried every known fix to no avail. I am disappointed that this issue is not even acknowledged by Apple. Fingers crossed for a fix soon.
