Microsoft released a statement with regard to Office:

Microsoft Office support for macOS 10.13 High Sierra - Office Support

As of October 10th, Office 2011 will no longer be supported. I, recently, bit the bullet and upgraded to Office 2016 in preparation for High Sierra. For Office 2016, you must be running version 15.35 or higher to be compatible with High Sierra (15.38 is the current release).

Well, I know for sure that Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac will not work with Mac OS High Sierra. You can download Microsoft Office 2016 here. You can view the page here. You need a license to create and edit documents, but you can view without buying Office 2016 or an Office 365 subscription.

Also, Office 2011 loses support on October 10. Therefore Microsoft has done any testing for Office 2011, and they are not going to.

I hope this helps.

My MS Office 2011 QUIT WORKING after upgrading to High Sierra, as well as Creative Suite 4; Both would not launch the app or open files correctly. Had to nuke everything and downgrade back to Sierra and reinstall everything just to finish my work that week. (Didn't think to make a more recent back-up before upgrading - My Bad!)

Had to pony up and buy Office 2016 and CS 6 to have the same programs I was using without problems. Just not ready to go to Creative Cloud yet since I don't use CS everyday and it's really an expensive subscription. I bought newer versions because I really did like the new version of Safari that blocks those annoying auto-play videos and will be upgrading back up to High Sierra in the coming days AFTER of course I make an up-to-the-minute-before upgrading

You must install the most recent updates to 2011. There won't be any more updates to it, but the most recent ones should allow it to run in High Sierra. 2016 is better, in my opinion, than 2011, but Microsoft hasn't produced a fully usable version of Word for the Mac since v.5.x.
