After updating to High Sierra my Sennheiser GSX 1000 "Communication Audio"-Devices wont show up in the audio devices list. It still shows the "Main Audio"-Devices, but I cant use it as an input device anymore. Any suggestions how I can enable the audio input?
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017), macOS High Sierra (10.13)
I did also try all this. What helped i the end, was restoring the AppleUSBAudio.kext in System/Library/Extensions with an older one from a TimeMachine backup.
Dont try to copy it manually. When I tried that, I couldnt repair the permissions for the file.
If you have a time machine backup use Finder to open the folder System/Library/Extensions on your system volume. Then use the time machine menu, to open time machine. Use the sidebar to go back in time to a date before you updated to high sierra. Then select the AppleUSBAudio.kext and press restore on the bottom of the screen.
usb devices such as this require a device driver to work
I would ask the manufacturer there have been reported issues with usb audio devices
also prior to high Sierra could be they are working on a new driver or already have one on their site
Already contacted Sennheiser but still waiting for their reply. Fact is, the GSX 1000 doesn't come with special drivers for MacOS (as most USB DACs). They actually advertise it: https://en-us.sennheiser.com/audio-amplifier-gsx-1000

Similar problem here with an Sennheiser USB Headset.
Detected by system profile, and I can use the volume buttons, but not detected as an audio input/output.
Tryed reseting smc and pram, nothing worked.
Exactly the same here. Funny addition on my systems: Every time i try to switch users, the whole systems locks up in a Black Screen of Death 😮 ... The moment i unplug the GSX it pops back to life 😁.
Hm, now how exactly do i restore that mysterious AppleUSBAudio.kext kernel extension? 😁

i couldn't restore the old KEXT file alone, so i rolled back to Sierra completely. Now at least everything is working again 🙂 ... and it looks like the iCloud family sharing still works too 🙂
Hope this bug gets ironed out some day... oh, btw. installed the Beta 10.13.1 ... bug's still in there 😟

So after updating to 10.13.1 the problem happened again. My solution to get it to work was the following:
Don't go to just /System/Library/Extensions as this is on your recovery disk!
I do not have any Time Machine backup to restore from; can I just delete the .kext file and let macOS rebuild it? I have a little different situation where I just got my GSX today and was already using macOS 10.13.1.
After updating to 10.13.2 input device is working but when I am on a video conference call my keyboard and mouse is not working.
