I can't control my phone's music anymore through my watch only able to control airpods

I used to be able to navigate what was playing through my phone while it was connected to bluetooth speakers etc, now I'm only able to play music that's saved onto my watch... if i hit play on my phone (random song/playlist) it will play the playlist or song but i have no control of volume or skipping through my watch anymore.

Hi


watchOS 4.x includes the Now Playing app. When playing supported audio on your iPhone (whether via the Music app or a third-party app), Now Playing is shown automatically in the Dock on your Apple Watch and can be used to control playback on your iPhone.


If desired, Now Playing can be added to the Dock permanently and/or added to a watch face as a complication.
