iPhone 8 not backing up to iCloud when charging on wireless charger.

installed ios 11.0.2 and put phone on wireless charger Friday night.

Checked this morning and the backup ran,

i did the 11.0.1 update and the automatic backup did work last night with the phone on the wireless charger.
I will keep an eye on it and update this post.

Contacted Apple Support.

This is a known issue.

No fix at this time.

The phone will automatic back while using the wireless charger once, after an IOS update.

After that it will only automatically back up if plugged into a charger.

The issue persists.

AND

I noticed in

Settings/AppleID, iCloud, iTunes..... when I select my phone from the list of my iCloud devices, the dialog under iCloud Backup On>

Says "Last iCloud backup: Never"

BUT

Settings/AppleID, iCloud, iTunes...../iCloud/iCloud backup
The dialog says
"Last successful back: 10/2/17 at 5:14 AM"

So the settings dialogs don't even agree.

And
My iPad, in the same settings dialogs, reports that the iPhone has never backed up.

BTW the iPad backs up automatically and reports that on both devices.
This is a software issue that Apple will surely resolve in a future update.

Using the latest iOS 11.1.1 made no difference

Every now and then the backup works on wireless charger.

Backup always works when plugged into wired charger.
