Since upgrade to High Sierra Mac Mail will not delete messages from server. Returns error msg: "The IMAP command UID COPY (to Trash) failed for the mailbox INBOX with server error: UID COPY Command is not valid in this state."

If I hold down the option key while deleting, the message(s) appear to be deleted, but when exiting and returning to mail, they are right back.

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks, A little more info: Found that only one account in Mac mail was malfunctions. Deleted and reinstalled, downloaded mail from ATT server (IMAP) and seems to be working now. Will see if prob returns.

I would expect you will experience this problem again. It occurs on and off. If you wait a while, it will usually start working. This is a communication error with Yahoo servers.

I decided to try the remedy of deleting the account and recreating it. So far, it seems to be working. Thank you lonestarm.

Aw Nuts! The error has returned after behaving properly for a short while. Hopefully the next OSX update will remedy it.

As noted this is a Yahoo! Mail problem and not something that Apple can fix.

Yahoo! has acknowledged the bug and promises a fix by the end of this week.

I have the same problem – if you right click on the email you wish to delete or move and then from the pop up menu select either "delete" or "move to", this sometimes (but not always) works.

Solved! Apple just pushed an update to the Yahoo mail problem -- High Sierra v10.13.
