IOS 11 Keyboard lag

Hi everyone,

I have an iphone 6s and ever since i upgraded into ios11 i've been having trouble with my keyboard (independently of the app I'm using, so i assume it's a ios problem). The fact is that the keyboard lags A LOT! I actually type much faster than the words/key pressed highlight shows on the phone. This includes symbols... i might finish typing my text (blindly, since the keabord doesn't react fast enough), and wait +/-3seconds before the whole text is shown in the screen... i never had this problem before (it's one of the things i've always liked about the iphone is how reactive the keyboard is with the auto correct and suggestions).

This is a really annoying problem. I've tried to switch off the different keyboard features (automatic correction,...) but i still have the same problem.

Is there a fix for this?

I have experienced the same issue you outlined across multiple devices including the iPhone 6s, 8plus, and X. I have a case outstanding with Apple support but there has not been a fix sent to me yet.

However, this is what I've done to work around the issue. Download a third party keyboard of your choice (I'm using SwiftKey). Set up the permission for use. Go to settings, general, keyboards and add the third party keyboard. Then, remove all other keyboards so you only have the third party listed. Go back to the general keyboard settings and toggle off all settings such as auto-cap, auto-correction, etc. Restart the phone.

This work around has worked so far. Hoping Apple has a fix soon.

Just another note, got a used iphone 6s, and it made everything super fast, no lag anywhere at all. THe iphone 6s is DOUBLE the ram of the 6, and has same amount of ram as the 7 and 8! Only the iphone X has more ram than the iphone 6s.

Honestly, ios 11 RUINED my iphone 6 and lag was too much to ignore, I'm a power user. The advice from many was to get a used Iphone 6s, and it fixed everything. It's over double the speed and the 7 and 8 aren't even much quicker. It's the techonolgy in the 6s chip and ram that was a new beginning for apple and phone it still ahead of it's time. All of these issues will be fixed with a 6s if on ios 11.

My iPhone has just recently started lagging. I have to push some buttons like 2 or 3 times before something shows up? I’ve tried restarting phone and soft resets freeing space everything and still isn’t helping? I don’t want to do a hard reset and lose everything.

I have the same problem with Safari mainly, I even had trouble replying to this forum and had to do yet another restart to be able to type in here. This is on my iPad airII

I'm experiencing the exact same issue on my iPhone 7 plus. Started as soon as I installed iOS 11.

I'm having the issue as well on an iPhone 7. I actually hadn't had the issue at all until I upgraded to 11.1 last week.

I got fed up with the inconsistencies in this operating system and yesterday bought a Note 8 and I couldn't be happier. I'm not going to go back to iPhone

I'm now on IOS 11.1.2 and it is still no better, maybe worse. Is IOS11 the worst release ever? It is in my experience. I can't believe that Apple would release this crap OS on us.

Not for me iOS11.2 is worse, it has taken me 8 mins to enter this line of text.
