Keychain Access: windows vanish

On entering my Keychain password to access a Secure Note in Keychain Access, the Secure Note window appears but vanishes less than a second later. Has anyone seen this behavior? Does anyone know a cure? Thanks.

For what it's worth, I can still access the information on the note with the right-click "Copy Secure Note to Clipboard" feature.

Does the same thing happen in the Safe Mode?

Safe Mode - About El Capitan
also Sierra

Safe Mode Startup – El Capitan. also Sierra

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

Etrecheck – System Information

Thanks very much for the response. I see that I made myself perfectly unclear: I was referring to existing Secure Notes, rather than creating new ones.

I did, I'm fact, try it in Safe Mode as well as normal user mode, with the same result.

I also suspected that a system admin might have been screen sharing with me at the time via Apple Remote Desktop, but I could easily verify that that was not the case.

After a day away from the system, I find that the weird behavior is no longer occurring. Until I see it recur, and in the absence of a similar experience elsewhere, I have to regard it as a Twonkie (not the more recent junk food, but the 1953 movie of the same name that explained that "A Twonkie is something that you don't know what it is").

Thanks again.
