I installed the new macOS High Sierra last night on my MBA and when I went to use it today the cursor was erratic (it was bouncing all over the place like it had a palsy). The computer is literally unusable as it is. I tried restarting the computer but to no avail. I hope that they put out a bug fix quickly. I doing this post from my iPad.

Interesting that there have been zero replies to my post. I can‘t even get the cursor to be stable enough to try and TM restore to a backup of the Sierra 10.12.6
What are the apps? You may have to connect a USB mouse, even a cheap one, if they are the problem but you can't use the cursor to delete them.
The apps were ZIP and UNZIP and Mashable (I don't even remember what that one is for)
Mashable! for Macs was an application to connect to the Mashable blog. None of the three you mentioned would likely be the culprit.
I’ve been thinking about doing a fresh install too.

I received my MBA back today from the Apple Genius. They replaced the trackpad and trackpad cable (the slip said the cable was defective). I'm using it now and the cursor is finally under control 🙂
