I have been using Quicken 2007 with Sierra quite successfully, but before installing High Sierra I want to find out if Quicken 2007 will be compatible with it. I hope someone knows.

Quicken 2007 works for me using macOS High Sierra.
Can you restore to Sierra from a Carbonite backup? Time Machine allowed me to restore to my last Sierra backup. I'm waiting for what seems to be a solid solution.

I have the same result - able to open and make changes. Get the same message about not able to backup.
Try with the data file on the same external HD as the backup destination.
Is your Quicken data file on the same HFS+ volume as the backup location?
I use Time Machine on a 1Tb external drive. I had to go back to a Time Machine backup just before I installed High Sierra. I was a then able to format my SSD to HFS (journaled).
I am also having this exact issue. I am able to back up manually, but It is an annoyance .
Is High Sierra compatible with Quicken 2007?
