Is it possible to remove the grey dock from the new iPad.
iPad, iOS 7.0.2, iPad 4
Just to clarify:
I'm using an iPad mini primarily to look at the news online. It's mounted in a protective case so it sits on the table in front of me while I have coffee and eat breakfast every morning. The new dock often pops up when I scroll. The old dock only appeared on my home screen and didn't interfere with my Safari surfing. I doubt if that would happen so often if I were using a larger form factor iPad than the mini on which scrolling real estate is significantly reduced.
"Maybe Apple needs to make some tweaks or slight changes to the way the new Dock is invoked when you want to
show or hide it to keep it out of the way when you don’t need it!"
Your suggestion quoted above would resolve my issue and would be much easier for Apple coders to acheive since I'm sure the dock itself is deeply integrated into iOS 11.
Thanks for following up!
No.
Hi Egauger. The dock is not a new feature of iOS. It's been present at least since iOS 7, when I joined the community. The only difference is that now it floats.
Hi MichelPM. Just one small correction. The old dock only ever appeared on the Home screens. It was never visible within any app.
Yes, but on the new version, it's only available if you want it to be. It disappears totally when you don't want it there and you are in an app. It's only not able to go away on the home screen.
I wish it were possible to do so because I despise pointlessly busy things.
Providing usuers the option to disable it in future updates would be much appreciated!
