The IMAP command “UID COPY” (to Trash) failed for the mailbox “INBOX” with server error: UID COPY Command is not valid in this state.

When I am attempting to delete emails from iMac mail app, a yahoo account, all other gmail accounts work, only yahoo, the following warning comes up. "The IMAP command “UID COPY” (to Trash) failed for the mailbox “INBOX” with server error: UID COPY Command is not valid in this state."

I am not able to delete my yahoo emails from the mail app. I can delete if I open up and delete them from my iPad or iPhone, but it is inconvenient. Does anyone have a fix to this? I have deleted and reconnected the mailbox to the mail application. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017), macOS High Sierra (10.13)

Hello beav32992,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that you are getting an error message when trying to delete email from your Yahoo account via the Mail app. I was able to find the following extended thread on the Yahoo support forums: https://forums.yahoo.net/t5/Temporary-Errors/I-can-t-delete-my-emails-from-third -party-email-apps/td-p/327030

Looking at the thread, it appears that the Yahoo engineering team has identified the issue and is currently working on a fix, per the Accepted Solution from a Yahoo staff member: "Hi everyone. Our engineering team has found the cause of the issue and is working on a fix. It seems MacMail's code changed with the new OS update and we just need to make sure our servers respond correctly to the change."

Best regards.
