Can't scrub movies in finder
I use to be able to select a movie and scrub through it in the finder pane but not since updating. I'm thinking it has something to do with the media keys not working either but that's a guess.

It has always worked for me. I've done it for years.
Don't see how unless an add-on was involved. Which OS do you remember being able to do that with? I've only been using Macs since '85 so perhaps something from '84?

The feature seems to be removed from High Sierra. At least I couldn't get it to work.
Yes, it has to be the right format. MKV files won't do it but if it plays in Quicklook you should be able to scrub it.
Actually, I've been doing it for a long time. If your mouse has a scroll wheel, you can scrub through a video preview. Can't any longer in High Sierra.
