Email alert that my Apple ID is automatically disable and to click on link, that does not have apple anywhere in address

I received an email Alert that my Apple ID was locked due to unusual sign in attempt. The link provided looks funny. The email also states! " within one week, if do not resolve, permanently locked".

I just signed into my account with no problems and have not used the link provided in the link.

How can I determine if this is phishing?

thank yoy

It's phishing. Apple will never send you an email like this - if they do have to lock your Apple ID for security reasons they won't tell you, they'll just wait for you to find out and take action.

Without exception, all messages of any format telling your your Apple ID has been locked and needs 'verifying', or that a virus has been detected, are fakes, as are most messages claiming that someone else has purchased something on your account.

Real emails from Apple will always address you by name, not 'Dear Customer' or your email address, or similar; they will come from the apple.com domain (though this can be forged) and links will always go to an apple.com web page.

As a general rule, never click on any link an a message you weren't expecting. If you want to check the status of your Apple ID or iTunes/iCloud accounts go directly to the appropriate web page, not following any of these links.

You could if you wish report this message to Apple by sending it as an email attachment to reportphishing@apple.com
