Photos in High Sierra Crashing when Editing

I'm getting an instant crash in Photos while I'm in the editing pane. It seems to happen most when I'm using, or have used, the Sharpening panel.

For information, I was also getting this when trying the Beta versions (reported), but it's still happening in a fresh install of release High Sierra with a newly created user account (Photos library is on an external drive, plenty of space 1TB drive, about 50% used).

This line is commonly appearing in the log:

4 Dispatch queue: GL0.high.run

System is iMac late 2013 27", 16GB memory, 1TB HDD.

Similar problem yesterday, but I get a constant beach ball and completely unresponsive Mac (cannot switch app, cannot kill Photos), which forced me to reboot. This happened twice in a row while cropping a photo.

MacBook Pro 15 2015. Latest HS version.

This is what was happening to me. Total machine freezing while cropping photos. For reasons I don't understand it seems to have 'gone away' but I have no idea why. It did not coincide with a MacOS update.

You might be in luck,I have just downloaded the latest H/S update and so far Photos appears to be behaving.

Now all I want is for Apple to make the browser Mid Grey, like A not B !AB

I am seeing exactly the same behaviour - Photos app crashing to desktop when trying to edit photos.

It was working fine two days ago, just after I upgraded to High Sierra.

Did ALL as you suggested, under online supervision,same result, crashes and freezes.

There is a real problem, even the senior advisor,on his Mac had the same result.

I just opened up my system library and it crashed within 20 sec without doing anything.

I've got a copy of the crash report if it worth posting? Sent to Apple too...

Finally decided to ring AppleCare. Best decision. They currently trouble shooting it. Although probably an issue with my system I won’t be surprised if there is some update also needed...

All the Macs I have tried in three stores have problems with Photos including an Apple Care second level technician I was talking to.

Same thing happens to me. When I try to crop Photos freezes the entire computer.

I forgot to add that I had a look at the system logs after the reboot(s) and could not see anything out of the ordinary.

I’ll try and do some more tests with a brand new library.

My problems went away once I updated the software, but came back the next day, weird!
