Using iTunes 12.7, play count not updating anymore

Has anyone else experienced a problem with iTunes 12.7 where the play count won't update any longer and does anyone know of a fix please?

I too was having this issue, I fixed mine by signing out of iTunes and back in, now it's working again.

I have Windows 10 and recently downloaded a few updates. It is my belief that these updates and their subsequent changes to my computer's settings are what affected the iTunes play count and last played date. It sounds weird, I know, but it's the only explanation I can come up with. The suggested sign out/sign in fix works perfectly, however I would hope that Apple has an iTunes update coming soon to permanently fix this apparent bug.

Play count problem not resolved with iTunes 12.7.1.14 on initial installation. Signed out, signed in, and it worked. Play count worked for exactly 10 songs. During the 11th song, I opened Preferences to look at a setting. Didn't change anything, but after that, play counts stopped updating. More experiments shop that play counts keep working when I 'Cancel' out of Preferences. They break when I leave by clicking 'OK', even if I haven't changed anything.

Can anyone else reproduce this?

Thanks for the experimentation. I did exactly that and found the same thing. Opening Preferences and clicking OK breaks play history, but opening Preferences and clicking Cancel does not break play history. I hope that's a data point that means something. Oh, and this is with the latest iTunes update (12.7.1.14) running on Win 10 x64.

I've found that signing out and in is enough to get play count going again. What breaks it is going into Preferences and then exiting by clicking OK (whether or not you change anything. Sign out and in again to restore play counts afterward.

Other users see the same behavior. If you can confirm too, or see something different, post the info.

bobmel1, if you could mark my above post as the answer, it might help other people.
