Cannot Add Custom Ringtones with 12.7

After updating to the recent 12.7, I have been unable to add my custom ringtones to my iPhone. I know that the method now is to easily drag and drop your .m4r files to the Tones section in iTunes. But, when I do so, all I get is an error stating:

"YourSongHere.m4r" was not copied to the iPhone "[My] iPhone" because it cannot be played on this iPhone.

All of my other ringtones are .m4r and they work just fine. Am I doing something wrong? Please help.

iPhone 6s, iOS 11.0.1

Sorry to hear you're still having issues. As I mentioned, I had to stop BTTray.exe because of errors when version 12.7.0.166 was launched. And, the drag and drop method for ringtones worked for me.

You may want to roll back to 12.6.3.6 which will restore pre-12.7 functionality. You can find it here - iTunes installers. It is a simple process and can be found here - Further information specifically in the section iTunes 12.7. This will restore the old way of managing ringtones among other things.

My experience is that you should drop the copied tones directly onto the device in the sidebar without selecting it from the top row first, and rather than trying to hit the tones folder.

I too noticed this a few days ago. I saw in the forum someone adding a link from this site with instructions to drag and drop. It doesnt work. I am predicting that Apple will at some point not allow our own music to be added just as they are doing with this. That will mean I no longer will use any Apple product. As soon as my 7 Plus is due for an upgrade I will be saying Hello Samsung.

I have to agree with you on all accounts. I too will be upgrading to Samsung when the time comes.

I've also read several articles stating that "it's as simple as drag and drop" wen it comes to adding ringtones. It doesn't work for me.

****, the latest update for the iPhone friggen' deleted all my Favorites from my Maps app. There's always... always something when it comes to Apple products. I've been a loyal customer for over 10 years, but I think that's coming to an end.
