Can dock be hidden IOs 11

I've been looking and can't find where I can get rid of the dock at the bottom of the Ipad in IOs 11? I figured out how to get rid of apps, but not the whole thing. It might be nice, but it's not very hard for me to go back to the screen and go to another app...so I don't see the value in having it up. Or if you can't get rid of it, can you at least make it transparent?

Its not a copy, its just a shortcut to recently used Apps and there's no real reason to want to get rid of them. They'll change on their own as you use other apps.

You can go to Settings->General->Multi-Tasking & Dock->Show Suggested and Recent Apps and turn it off if you want to though.

Beyond that, the dock has always been there, and has never been completely transparent.

It's more opaque if you have Settings->General->Accessibility->Increase Contrast->Reduce Transparency turned on, otherwise its slightly translucent. But in all versions its been there.

The only difference is now its not docked to the bottom of the screen, and gets rounded corners.

Nope. Since it now serves to access apps for multitasking and split view docking it is not an option.

It may be opaque and grey if you have Reduce Transparency turned on in Settings->General->Accessibility->Increase Contrast->Reduce Transparency, otherwise it should be somewhat transparent and as such take on the colors your background image has in that area.

Scroll from a little higher up on the screen. The dock is set to appear when you start swiping almost at the very bottom edge of the screen. If you start a bit higher it will not show up.

Outside of that, it does have a purpose. You may not have any use for the Multitasking features that it provides, but other users do. It's not just a random useless item, it has a reason for working the way it does. Turning it off in Apps renders the Multitasking and Split View options unusable.

You can submit a suggestion to Apple as mentioned many times in this thread already using the Feedback page. https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Telling us, and complaining to us, is not going to do much to change the way it works.

The Dock has been with us since iOS 7 which is now going on 5 years.

Not going to go away any time soon.

And this newer variation actualy mimics EXACTLY how the Dock looks AND works in macOS/OS X.

I have no clue why all of this hate for a very convenient feature the Dock has provided for the last 5 years.

Just use it as it was meant to be used.

Apple is NOT going to change how the Dock looks and works for a very small minority of users who refuse to use this feature as it was intended to be used.

The new Dock ISN’T going away any time soon.

Better get used to it!

How is this Dock any different from the previous Dock of the last 4-5 years>

It’s not!

It’s the same height as the old Dock!

It just floats now and isn't permanently anchored to the bottom of the screen, any longer.

It works EXACTLY the same as the previous Dock did, but holds even more apps and is more integrated with iOS multitasking features.

I've hated the home screen dock bar since my first iPad 2. Just got a 9.7" 2017 and am still hating it. I'm a photographer and use my own photos for home and lock, and that blurry, mostly opaque bar obliterates a sixth of every composition, the entire foreground. It's an eyesore on my screen. The only manipulation allowed is to make it even more opaque, gray, uglier. I recommend/am pleading for a slider in the setting that does the opposite, taking it from opaque to completely transparent. And please allow us users to set our graphic visibility our way? The movement feature is kind of cool, but I'd rather see more of my compositions. As it is, the system decides what I see, and the system's judgement is painful to view if the user is an artist/photographer. I cringe at what is being done to my art. )-: And I do get it about how to use the bar. It's the aesthetics, not the practicality of it that I object to.
