Can you split the screen in an iPad with the new ISO 11 ?

I was able to split the screen on my iPad and look at two different things at the same time but with the new update I’m not able to do that.

You are still able to do that, the feature is just implemented differently.

You no longer swipe from the right of the screen to open SlideOver.

The new way is to swipe up from the bottom, which reveals the dock. Drag the app icon you wish to use in Split View out of the dock and onto the screen.

What iPad model do you have?

The way split view mode works in iOS 11 has changed.

Maybe you need all of this to help you learn to use and navigate iOS 11.

Hi, as you seem knowledgeable on this aspect of iOS 11 perhaps you can help me. I am slow to iOS 1 on my iPad as it was full of non-compliant apps which I had to figure out how to replace with functioning equivalents.

I use a wide-ish range of apps and decided as soon as I migrated to 11 that I did not like the split doc, and wanted the maximum 15 apps of my choice in the dock all the time which as a result looks like this [or it would if this site allowed iPad Pro screen grabs which are more than 2Mb, 4.837Mb in this case!].

There are, of course, apps I use less often and I’m currently beta testing a timeline app via Apple’s Test flight and need to compare it with a rival by copying and pasting [when I was still with iOS 10] or drag and drop now.

Can I do this with the Dock in in my chosen configuration [‘Show suggested and recent apps’ off], or do I just have to use the Home button to switch and keep cutting and pasting rather than ‘dragon dropping’, also losing the ability to see both apps together?

Cheers, Colin
