iPhone 6 very slow with IOS 11 update

After receiving IOS 11.01.1 on my MGCT2LL/A1522 (iPhone 6), my phone is super slow. Apps hang, then close (like the Starbucks app), my purchased music would just stop in the middle of a song, then I had to close the app and re-open.

In general, everything is very slow to respond, and I have rebooted twice.

Any suggestions

Many apps unresponsive. Phone also running extremely warm and battery draining very quickly. Turning off background app refresh makes no difference whatsoever. Hard reset has no effect. I have 78GB free.

My iPhone6 worked perfectly fine - up until the iOS 11 upgrade. Only now, after the upgrade, do I have a "slow almost inoperable iPhone".

So, yes, I am looking forward to a iOS 11 fix that lets me diable Apple's throttling down of my iPhone CPU so it becomes usable again.

To be clear, I have never had the sudden crashes.

I am also going to take advantage of the cheap battery replacement offer. Why would I not ?

I’ve owned almost every iPhone including the original, how about you? Many models shutdown in the past, That was no big deal. I found an old iPhone 4 in a drawer a few months ago, charged it up to compare and in every single way it was butter smooth and far faster running IOS 6. Every app was 2-3 times quicker than this iPhone 6 running the same apps under IOS 11. Slower is not progress.

I got my wife's iPhone 6 a new battery yesterday from the Apple store, it took 2 weeks to get the battery, got there around 6:20 PM and left at 7:20 PM, the phone is working great now, only $30 bucks, and she is happy, and so I am happy, glad Apple offered this deal,

Yup!

Great to learn this!

A new iPhone 6 battery WILL AND DOES cure most of the iPhone 6/6S/6S Plus performance ills under iOS11!

That's what a new battery will do for every iPhone 6 and 6 variant model.

Restore the phone to its former performance levels!

You can't restore a previous version of iOS.

Apple is currently testing iOS 11.3, which will allow users to control the speed-throttling feature. This feature was implemented to prevent unexpected shutdowns by iOS devices with old batteries, but unfortunately it also degrades performance. When iOS 11.3 is released, users will be able to control whether this feature is turned on. You'll be able to choose the tradeoff between speed and safety.

If you want early access to this release, you can join Apple's iOS beta test program. The new feature was just made available to developers today. If Apple follows its usual pattern it should be available to the public beta testers in the next few days.

If you only have one device it is incredibly risky and foolish to install a beta release on it. By definition, a beta release is untested software. It is guaranteed to have bugs, some of them could be serious and could render your device unusable. Beta releases are intended for app developers to get advance copies to test their apps with. The smart ones install it only on secondary devices that are specifically designated as test platforms, and never install it on the device they use every day. You also cannot get support in this forum for a beta release, so if it breaks your device you are on your own.

8 Days later my wife iPhone 6 still working like a new iPhone after the Apple replaced the battery for $29 bucks. I know it might be difficult for some folks to get to the apple store for the $29 dollar replacement, I had to drive an hour to get to the closet store, but i found a few things to do while i waited the hour for them to replace her battery. She is happy with the performance and no issues with slow downs.

How old is your iPhone 6?

They were discontinued in March 2016.

If you purchased and iPhone 6 anytime in 2016, your iPhone 6 is going on two years old.

Apple has already admitted to slowing down all iPhone 6 variants with degrading performng batteries.

Apple has the new reduced priced IPhone battery replacement for iPhone 6 and later models for only $29 U.S.D..

So, make the appointment and get a new replacement battery.

The replacement battery WILL restore your iPhone 6 to its former, normal performance under iOS 11.

Good Luck to You!

at Least he can hear the truth without trying to hide it with beautiful and gentle words....

I any case, good luck.

As one of person that are/were enthusiastic with Apple, I am thinking in giving another chance when the battery plan arrives to spain, but it is really a botched, a frustration this upgrade, if not a programmed obsolescence activity.
