imovie is displaying incorrect date and time after system update

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)

Mac OS Sierra Version 10.12.6

Processor: 2.2 GHZ Intel Core i7

Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

I movie was recently updated on my system and now the date and time title displays a time that is 6 hours before the actual meta file time. I have to go through every clip and manually change the time stamp to the correct time. Is there any way to fix this problem? I use my video camera every day for work and have to submit time stamped video, so this is a huge inconvience for me.

Please let me know of solution.

iMovie 10, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

Your issue has come up at least once before on this forum. I don't know if a solution was found.

I suggest that you try restarting your computer and opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys, and then selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. Sometimes that cures glitches.

If that doesn't work try opening iMovie in a different or new user account. You can use the Guest account on your Mac for this purpose.

Also, check to make sure that you have the correct time zone on your clip.

All else failing, consider a re-download of iMovie .

I spent quite some time troubleshooting with apple support and I was not able to find a solution. It's defiantly a bug that needs to be fixed. What I do in the meantime is import the video, highlight all clips, click modify, then adjust the date and time stamp. The issue that im having is that the day and minutes are correct. It just that the hour is always of by 6 hours. By highlighting all clips, you can change every clip by 6 hours and then the date and time title will display the correct time on all clips. Its super frustrating as I use I-movie for work. Hopefully this issue will be resolved.

Hope this helps.

Earlier today I was talking to an apple senior technician, he said to that "it probably normal iMovie behave".

after some explanations that this is a new "bug" and before the 10.1.7. version it wasn't working that way, he agreed to check this issue with programming department.

on the meanwhile there is no solution but downgrade your iMovie version with time machine if did a backup.

he promised me an answer on Monday. ill keep you updated.

I got in contact with Support and found my Sony HDR-cx 405 according to them was incompatible, although, I've using it for over 6 months and only Sony products prior. So off to the store I go and buy the latest Sony HDR-CX 440 and same problem. Incompatible, Off to buy a compatible Panasonic HC-V380 (CONFIRMED COMPATIBLE) and still time stamp wrong. Haven't called back but what will they offer? Very frustrating after 4 years of flawless IMOVIE experience, now, with work in immediate jeopardy, due to IMOVIE bugging. Just so frustrating.

If I have ten clips, whatever my date and time stamp on the last clip, will show on all previous clips no matter what day or time it was acquired.

I am having the same problem. I imported some Video and photos that I had captured on my GoPro during the day. The funny thing is that the time and data on the photos was fine, but all the video was 11 hours out.

I have to say the Apple recommendation provided in this thread is terrible, is that the best you can do?
