imovie is displaying incorrect date and time after system update

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)

Mac OS Sierra Version 10.12.6

Processor: 2.2 GHZ Intel Core i7

Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

I movie was recently updated on my system and now the date and time title displays a time that is 6 hours before the actual meta file time. I have to go through every clip and manually change the time stamp to the correct time. Is there any way to fix this problem? I use my video camera every day for work and have to submit time stamped video, so this is a huge inconvience for me.

Please let me know of solution.

iMovie 10, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

Your issue has come up at least once before on this forum. I don't know if a solution was found.

I suggest that you try restarting your computer and opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys, and then selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. Sometimes that cures glitches.

If that doesn't work try opening iMovie in a different or new user account. You can use the Guest account on your Mac for this purpose.

Also, check to make sure that you have the correct time zone on your clip.

All else failing, consider a re-download of iMovie .

I have done some testing with my miniDV files and found the following.

My miniDV files are from 2000 to 2010.

I transferred them from tape to disk using CatDV Live Capture Plus (squarebox.com). This resulted in e.g. a clip recorded on 21-nov-2000 stored in a file created on 1-apr-2010.

In iMovie 9 (and older probably) events are sorted by Recording date. That means in the order that they have been recorded.

In iMovie 10 this changed into sorting by File date. Updating the catalog in iMovie 10 resulted in a practically unusable order of events. I checked this with several versions of iMovie 10.

Versions of macOS or different hardware systems (MacBook Pro, Mac Pro) have not made a difference.

Question is whether this is unintended, so a bug.

Or, that this is by design and therefore not likely to change anytime soon.
