After upgrading to High Sierra, my Spotlight search does not work. It seems that the index needs to rebuild, but I cannot find any instructions for how to do so anywhere.
Please help!

iMac, Mac OS X (10.0.x), 32GB Ram, 3TB Fusion Disk
Open System Preferences : Spotlight : Privacy. Drag your Macintosh HD boot drive icon from the Desktop onto this Spotlight privacy window. Wait 10 seconds, and then drag it back out of the privacy window. This will trigger Spotlight to reindex your boot drive.
In addition to VikingOsX suggestion, have you checked the appropriate files you want to have indexed? Or in your case, Applications?
Thanks, I have done so several times, but it seems it does not complete the reindexing.
I have 2Tb of data, and the reindexing is done in 5 minutes and there are still app that cannot be found...!?

Finally! It worked. I added the disk, waited for a while, and then deleted it again. After the third attempt, it worked!
I've spent a week working on this issue without success. So have others. We're hoping for a new version of HIgh Sierra without the bugs, soon.

This worked perfectly when nothing else did. The indexing started immediately.
it won't work for long - wait and see...
Since discovering the fix on 31st December, the issue has not returned for me.
what if I cannot find .medata_never_index under Macintosh HD?

This solution worked for me. As soon as I ran this command the mdworker task kicked off and now everything is good.
