I went on a trip recently. Parked my car in the lot in New York, flew to DC. No problem so far. In DC I rented a car and paired the phone with the rental. My question is: does that mean Apple Maps forgot the location of my car in NY?

The car isn’t what’s tracking the location. The phone is. When you stop pairing with a car’s Bluetooth then it marks the location.
Good question, I supposed the car you paired with knows the location you're in.
I don't think it's a multi-car thingy.

That's what I meant, your iPhone and not the car, since car is not that smart.
