Try double taping (not clicking) your home button. (If you do it again it will trigger the half black screen.)

You can disable it by going to Settings/General/Accessibility and turning it off.
Yes, sadly, too many people post without bothering to read what has already been posted. And I should have just referenced your post. I apologize for not checking first (even I'm sometimes guilty of not reading).
Addendum: Sometimes the forum software doesn't show new posts until another post is added after the new post. So I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to the poster you responded to. If you see posts that just have a period (.) in them, that's an informal convention to force hidden posts to appear.

Glad I could help.
I think they ignored my post stating that earlier.
No apologies needed you know more about this than me. I apologise if I offended you.
You did not offend me in the slightest. I welcome your participation in ASC, and I've seen a lot of good replies from you.
Thank you, sir.
That's a feature called "reachability"; the screen image slides down so you can reach it if you are using the phone one handed. You enable it by double tapping the HOME button lightly (just tap, don't press). You can go back to the normal display by double tapping again or just by tapping on the black part of the screen.
