IPad IOS 11 Photogene App

Since updating to IOS 11 I can no longer use my Photogene App. I get a message to contact Photogene but the link in broken. I then went directly to Photogene support and sent them a enquiry as to when they will be coming out with an update to their App but they do not respond and have followed you numerous times. I have used Photogene to edit thousands of camera roll photos before exporting to photo library. I also had several photos in progress. I really like this app and would like to know if and when this app will be coming back on stream with Apple.

iPad (4th gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 10.2

Its at least nice to hear from others who were faced with the same problem. Had I known that I would have held off like you and cleaned up my work in progress at least. I will be more leery in future about updating IOS. I hope Photogene will upgrade to 64bit. I think they have a great app and I would be willing to pay for it over again. I am surprised they dont answer with at least to say they are sorry but........ Thanks for the response.

Thankyou for the insight ZintainUSA. Even though these Apps are by 3rd party developers i feel Apple bears some responsibilities. Users become very dependant to some of these Apps and build a certain trust around the system as a whole. So when Apple makes system changes without regard for the users and say they have no control over it shakes my confidence in Apple. Thankyou for listening and hopefully Apple can provide some assurance in future.

Perhaps a little more due diligence in picking their app providers might minimize problems and maybe a little higher standards of admission. There are other ways of exercising responsibilities. I think customers matter in any equation. Your slam speaks volumes.

I just bought Pixelmator app...it isnt half as good in editing photos as Photogene was. I am so dissappointed. It is so cumbersome...anybody find an alternative? Photogene was wonderful. Please tell me there is an app just like it.

If you like image editors with lots of preset stuff, you probably need to go back to the iOS App Store and look for updated photo/image editors that have more quick tap on image effects/editing presets, then.

I am used to using full desktop grade image editors on my Mac, so I am not afraid to use these type of full featured image editors on iOS.

You need to search for some other simplified image editor that works for YOU!

I am currently using Pixelmator. I dont like it as well as Photohgene. I have a hard time identifying the thumbnail photos to bring into Pixelmator and end up having to delete them and go back again go search for the correct one. This is an issue that is especially annoying trying go read grave stone pics. Another point is when setting up to enter "text" it puts the word "text" in parentheses and have to delete it before entering my own text. Also editing annotations after the fact is weird and have to literally paint over the original lettering.

I also loved another photo editor : „PS” - same message - needs upadating.’’ but what I regret too is that Apple has changed photo filters in its native app Photos: there is one missing in the new setup : Black and white with very strong contrast which transformed almost ANY boring colour photo into a white an black masterpiece...

I have this exact same problem. Beyond annoying and I’m frankly rather fed up of the innumerable software updates from Apple. Particularly annoying when they render one of my favourite Apps obsolete. Did you find any passable alternative?

I understand your arguments. This having said, I would loved to have the choice to go back to earlier IOS version just to be able to continue using my beloved Photogène and PS apps as well as the old range of filters of the native IOS Photo app.

Hi, everybody. I have the same issue. I work as a news photographer, and Photogene allowed me to crop, edit, write captions and ftp pictures to my agency's photo desk. Now I know I can edit and crop with some apps, not sure if I can write captions, and I know there are other apps to ftp. So, any of the alternative apps you guys mention puts all these functions togeteher as Photogene did? 😕

Hi David. I cant seem to find that feature on Pixelmator. I used it occasionally in Photogene. I will miss it as it was fun to capture comments on photos for friends. Although Pixelmator doesnt measure up to Photogene it is listed by Apple as on of the overall top selling Apps. I sure hope someone will take over photogene and reintroduce it. Its was a shame to have scrapped the product at the developers whim. Good luck looking for a new App and if you fine one I would appreciate hearing your choice here for the benefit of the abondoned users.
