Speakers for Mac Pro 2006

I have a Mac Pro from 2006. Back in the day I bought a JBL speaker system with 3 speakers and a woofer(wired). The speakers are no longer working. Looking to replace with something that would give me a stereo sound.

That’s a shame about your JBL speakers. From what I understand, any speakers would work for stereo, but you’d want good sounding ones( no garbage) so, maybe audioengine, logitech, to name two, I’m sure there are other good brands out there, what I usually do is check the companies’ websites until I see something that looks good, then I check out the specs, then the price. I don’t know of a store that just sells computer speakers- usually it’s this, that, and the other and computer speakers. Maybe your local kijjiji?

Just a few ideas

Mac output is a almost always headphone output. To get sound from a speaker subsystem, it must have an amplifier. Speaker systems for computers typically have an Amplifier built into one of the speakers.

My old speakers have BOTH a power adapter AND batteries inside one of the speaker bodies. When the batteries get weak, it stops producing sounds.

Check for disconnected power adapter.

Check for dead batteries or corroded battery contacts in the unit with the Amplifier built-in.
