aol security settings in mail

How do I check and/or change the security settings in Mail for my AOL account? I received a message from AOL stating, "that your current third party email application (Mail) is not using the latest, secure mail connection settings." I checked and it's not SPAM.

These are the settings I need to have, but I can't see how to check and modify them. I'm pretty sure the servers are correct but I can't see anything about SSL.

Incoming mail server (IMAP): imap.aol.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.aol.com

Make sure SSL encryption is enabled for the incoming and outgoing mail server.

IMAP - 993 - SSL

SMTP - 465 - SSL
SMTP - 587 - SSL / TLS

Additionally I don't know if they're referring to my laptop or my iPhone or both.

iPhone 6s, iOS 10.3.3

Have you tried the automated setup with the Mail app as Eric Root has provided in this post to set up your AOL email?

Go back to the Accounts. When you select an e-mail address, the right pane should show 3 tabs. Select the tab all the way to the right. It was once called Account Information.

AOL has now changed the page so it doesn't include Apple Mail.

You are welcome. I can't access all my settings either. Apple removed that ability. I don't know what else to suggest. I'm already looking for a 3rd party e-mail program just in case.
