Hi
Since Upgrading to IOS 11.0.2 WhatsApp notifications have been delayed and only appearing when I open WhatsApp.
I have tried resetting network settings, backing up and resetting the handset and switching off and on - seems like a bug.
Please help!

Whatsapp release an App update today to fix this very problem. Update your App.
It fixed the issue but not for all users. My notifications don’t always work eve after the update

I have the same problem. I’m hating iOS 11 for that!
I had the same problem but solved it.
Enable Whatsapp Background App Refresh and I hope this will work for you as well.
Go to Settings, General, Background App Refresh.
