I lost my project after resetting settings

I was working on a project with Final Cut Pro X, and my effects wouldn't work so I followed someone's advice to reset my settings. I was told this wouldn't affect my projects. After I reset the settings my project was gone, and when I loaded my one project "Untitled", it loaded a different project than the one I was working on. Before, I could go back and forth between my projects with the arrow buttons in the middle of the screen, but that option no longer exists. Am I really going to have to do the whole video over again? I backed up my files before I reset the settings, does that help? I really put a lot of work into that video.

Untitled is the default library. What was the name of your library? Where is it in the hard drive? Find it and double click it. The back and forward arrows only apply to recently opened projects (not libraries). When you first open the application there is only one project open. There are no previously opened projects in that session. When you open your library, there will be a folder of library smart collections, one of which is a collection of all the projects in the library.

Your library is still there where it was before. You just have to open it.

When preferences are reset, FCP X opens a library called Untitled because it doesn’t know which libraries were open before (that information had been in the preferences file just deleted).

If you don’t know where it is, search for it in the Finder or Spotlight.
