Safari password autofill not working in ios 11

If I input my username into a website the option on my keyboard will pop up to autofill my password. When I select it there is a glitch and nothing happens.

If I leave the username blank and select the password field first, then hit autofill, the box will pop up normally and I can select my username and the password will autofill. I then have to manually enter the username after.

This has happened since the ios 11 update. My office mate is having the same problem.

We have cleared our password queue in settings and put them back in, but the same thing is happening.

Hi, The support tech I was chatting with went to his second tier support and learned "Autofill changed with the iOS 11.3 update, it no longer automatically fills, it has the option to add the details." That's when I messed with it and found if you click into the ID or PW field, the keyboard will show and to the top left of the keyboard display it will say "Password". Click that and it will give you a drop down of user-id's for that web-site. Select the one you want and it populates ID/PW then as always.

It appears to be the new way.

No, the password fields are not automatically filled in. Select the password field and when the keyboard shows up, look for “password” on the upper left hand side. Press this and a dialog box will appear: follow the instructions from there. see also Lhledik post on 1st April (where I got the information above).

Apple removed the automatic auto fill in iOS 11 all you have to do is click on the username or password box and it should give you a prompt to seek the the login details just you have to do it manually now rather than before where it did it automatically

I am having exactly the same problem with the new update. So annoying. And my email settings were switched to iCloud so I could not send any emails.

It works as of 11.3 update, whew!! We’re back in business.

Bruce is it automatically filling the fields in for you or do you have to click on a field and then manually auto fill it

Thanks. Why were others saying it was fixed in 11.3 and back to the old way. It’s no major deal if it’s for security and preivacy it’s worth it

I’d like to know if this is a security measure what was wrong with the previous method where it was pre filled as soon as you opened the site

Yes it is. I’m not 100 percent sure I think it’s that some Websites had phony username and password fields that would trick the auto fill and try take the login details.
