Lots of bugs in ios 11.0.3 on iPhone 6s

Hi Apple,

What have you done with ios 11. Even after 3 updates the stability is terrible.

First of all: a lot of apps aren't working right. they keep crashing or the whole ios crashes and i have to do a hard reset. Even the apps that have been updated work insanly bad.

Second: random ios bugs. like wifi crashing the music app or the volume indicator just stops working. the apps in the bottom part of the screen disappear? the list goes on and on and on.

Last: The battery. i mean my device now only has like 60% of the batterylife it had before. you guys really screwed us over with this terrible update...

please fix asap.

1) I haven't seen lots of apps crashing but if they are, that needs to be brought to the attention of the app provider, whether Apple or someone else.

2) I've never seen Wi-Fi crash anything, or the volume indicator stop working. If you have elements disappearing from the bottom of your screen you may also have a hardware issue causing problems on your device.

3) Battery - same here. If you are seeing continual battery issues, take your phone in to be diagnosed; the most common cause of excessive battery draw is a third party app that is not compatible with iOS 11 is stuck in a loop, drawing power.

Agreed, the proper response to a problem with the Apple IOS update is to spend a lot of your valuable time either with customer support or go to a store help center or buy a new phone. Those are your choices since Apple does not make it easy or even possible to roll back your IOS.

I would say this is something people should consider when purchasing Apple products.

I was not suggesting that you have a bias against Apple. I was suggesting that, because people expect to see problems with an update, the mistakenly attribute any problem that occurs within the general time frame of the update as caused by the update. The other logical fallacy involved here is that correlation proves causality. It doesn't. This was in particular response to this section of your post "11.0.3 blew up a lot of 6s's immediately before the release of 2 new products". You made a statement for which there is no evidence and then proceeded to argue as if it were fact.

Objective observers do not buy into conspiracy theories.

I have been a chat with Apple for over a week and they cannot find out what is wrong. I filed a complaint and an Apple exec. did call me wanting to help. Said he was having an Apple engineer contact me to try and find out how to fix my phone. On chat with what was suppose to be an engineer, which in fact was not, and I connect my phone to my iMac and opened iTunes and he sent a link so he could try and figure out what was wrong by taking over my screen on my iPhone...we were on the phone for way over an hour...he took all kinds of information from my iPhone and then said it would send the information to the engineering compartment.....not one work back from Apple. Not one. With all of the iPhones having this issue, not all, why can't Apple figure it out. I updated to 11.1 and nothing has changed. Nothing!!!!!

"11.0.3 blew up a lot of 6s's immediately before the release of 2 new products" - that statement is 100% factual.

1. From USA Today COT 1, 2017 "iOS 11 killed my battery life. Here's how I finally revived it and you can, too"

2. October 5, 2017 "The analysis from mobile security company Wanderaclaimed the average battery decay for an iPhone running iOS 10 under constant use is 240 minutes. For devices that have upgraded to iOS 11, the decay time is just 96 minutes."

Which of these facts is not objectively true?

Here are the facts at this point I will assume you simply are unable to acknoledge my citations as bona fide or you simply enjoy this sort of back and forth. I would advise others with these problems to contact apple and express your displeasure.

2. October 5, 2017 "The analysis from mobile security company Wandera claimed the average battery decay for an iPhone running iOS 10 under constant use is 240 minutes. For devices that have upgraded to iOS 11, the decay time is just 96 minutes."

3. Assuming the same device started with the battery at 100%, this chart shows how long it takes to get to 0% for each version. The current estimate is 240 mins for iOS 10 and 96 mins for iOS 11.

In other words, we can assume the average decay rate for iOS 10 is 0.006958 percent per second and for iOS 11 it’s 0.01739 percent per second.

No, it's an opinion.

Provide a link. If it's like most click-bait headlines, though, that article will say that people reported that their battery life had decreased, which in the cases that it it was iOS 11 related, probably had to do with some changes in preferences. I will grant you that iOS 11 did seem to change some settings for no discernable reason.

They have a pretty graph but they give no indications of how they arrived at those numbers. They also use the word "Assume" way too much. The article was publish two days after iOS 11 was released. The update to iOS 11 required a lot of background housekeeping. Almost everyone experienced decreased battery life for a day or two as a result. Once the background processes were complete, the issue was resolved. Also, this article is now four version of iOS 11 out of date.

Okay, yes, those items are facts. I don't dispute them.

Define "a lot."

You make an Apple Store appointment and show up at your appointment time and your issue is addressed in some manner - usually in an hour or less.

I wouldn't consider that "a lot."

Some people's time is more valuable than others - hour in a store and hour getting there and back is worth more than the current retail value of my 6S to me. Guess it just depends where you are and how much your time is worth. Im glad you have the time to spend visiting Apple retail to correct flawed software upgrades, that is fortunate indeed.

Thanks for the long and tedious reply. I haven't been back for a few days but I see there are 10 more pages of extremely unhappy customers, and still no fix - just more snide comments from people who have lots of points from arse-licking apples product and reputation.

In real terms, although it doesn't seem like it, apple have peaked. There's a groundswell of normal people who are ****** off with the arrogant attitude and more importantly a complete lack of any real new ideas since Jobs died. It's ever decreasing circles - big phone / little phone - once people see through it and get over the iPhone, Apple have got nothing else. And I'm one of many lifetime users - I've always worked on Apple products and always played on Apple products. People will leave with heavy hearts but move they will.

We can just wait and see if your prediction has any truth in it, then we will know that which you claim to.

I agree. Having used Microsoft OS since the early 80's I knew the problems software updates. In the early days devices would brick up because back then new drivers had to be purchased or received by the USPS. When I purchased my first iPhone 10 years ago one of the things I most appreciated was that with Apple, back then, you didnt have to worry about iOS - it always worked, didnt get viruses and was for the most part invisible to the end user.

A few years ago iOS started to creep onto my radar. No longer could I upgrade iOS software without really thinking about it. Functionality sometimes suffered so I would wait months to upgrade till I heard the community confirm bugs were gone. The latest 11 update was disaster - reminded me of the hours on the phone in the 90's I used to spend with printer manufacturers trying to get printers to work with new drivers from Windows.

Trolls here seem to think frustration with a flawed iOS is personal, its not - its purely pragmatic. I do not have the time to beta test software for a 900 Billion dollar company.

Lots of bugs in ios 11.0.3 on iPhone 6s
