Youtube keeps reloading every second or two

This is utterly bizarre My YouTube page via Safari turns itself off and on every second or two. As soon as I click on a video to watch or even go to the youtube page, it plays for a second or two, then the whole page 'reloads' This goes on and on. Only youtube page, not any other Safari page

I'm on iMac retina with High Sierra but it has done this for months.

Have tried zap pram, installed sierra, updated all software, installed latest high sierra, latest flash player, turned off autoplay - nothing seems to work. Googled the issue and can't find anything related.

Does any one have any ideas? Desperation setting in :-(

Safari > Preferences > Extensions

Select and uninstall “ClickToFlash and “ClickToPlug-in” extensions, if installed.

Thanks a lot Eric. I tried it on Chrome and it (Youtube) works fine

I signed out of youtube on Safari but it still flashes off and on constantly there.

Thanks eric. you were right. created new user account and NO youtube flickering. Any idea what this means for my usual user account? What could be wrong in there? thanks a lot Philip

#metoo Will Apple finally fix this? Every other browser seems to be able to display the Youtube site.

Have you tried using YouTube in another admin user account to see if the same thing happens?

Try another browser as a test.

Firefox 10.9 or higher

Opera Browser 10.9 or higher

SeaMonkey 10.9 or higher

Waterfox 10.8 or higher

Hi again,

I downloaded and tried Firefox. All fine, so with Chrome and Firefox both working fine with Youtube, it seems clearly to be a Safari issue. Would love to fix it as I really don't like having to use two or three different browsers.

how do I try it in a another admin user account? Hope that's not a daft question as I only have the one. I 'sign in' to youtube on safari via the google signup screen that appears

Go to System Preferences/Users & Groups, unlock the padlock, click the + sign the left, and create a new user with admin privileges.

User Account – Add New Admin
