Series 3 LTE Apple Watch weak haptic

My wife and I both purchased the most recent Apple watches with LTE support. I have the 42mm Nike and she has the 38mm Sports model. When an incoming phone call comes in the haptic is very weak and barely noticeable. Haptic is set to full strength and prominent is set to on. Coming from Series 0 and 2 it is a HUGE difference as i never experienced this problem before. Anyone else having this issue or know of a way to modify this? Is this perhaps only an LTE version issue? Any input is appreciated.

If the issue persists after following the steps in my previous reply and and you are concerned about a potential hardware defect, then I suggest that you contact Apple Support (remote diagnostics and/or mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance:

So I went through Apple 'support'. However this has nothing to do with either 'support' or 'customer care'. I went through different procedures while online (unpair / pair /reboot) and this did not help. Decision made that the watch needs repair (2 weeks after purchase).

1. Denied possibility to hand it into the local Apple Store.

2. Had to wipe the watch immediately to get the repair procedure startet.

3. Got an empty box sent by TNT 3 days later

4. TNT to pick it up 30 hours after I called them (knowing your partners, Apple...)

5. Message from Apple 2 days later: nothing wrong with the watch, will be sent back

so here I am, 7 days later, still without the watch

I would not suggest to contact support, but just to return the watch and buy another one.

Hi

I have not personally experienced any reduction in haptic strength between Apple Watch (1st generation) and Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular).

The following steps may help (check after each):

If you have not yet done so, update your iPhone and Apple Watch to the latest software, starting with your iPhone:

Adjust the haptic strength to a lower setting and then back up to maximum:

Restart both your iPhone and your Apple Watch, turning both off together, then restarting your iPhone first:

Unpair and re-pair your Apple Watch:

If the issue then persists and you are concerned about a potential manufacturing defect, then I suggest that you contact Apple Support (remote diagnostics and/or mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance:

Thanks for the tips. I unpaired and set it up as new but I’m experiencing the same problem. No issues with texts or notifications just phone calls. When I go into the haptic settings the middle level feels exactly the same as the highest in terms of intensity. Did the pattern the Watch vibrates change for you upon upgrading? To me the pattern even feels different and I don’t think there is a way to change it.

I'm glad someone else posted this. I was thinking I was crazy. Recently upgraded from a Series 1 to a Series 3 and I miss 3/4 of incoming messages now. I've always left the Series 1 in silent mode - the haptic was always good enough. If I don't turn the audible alerts on now, I miss everything.

Hope this can be fixed in software vs learning they downgraded the haptic engine in the Series 3!
