iPhone 8 Plus Screen Auto Dimming

We wook out to our local service provider & he found a hidden setting. that fixed it for my husband but he had to dig around to find it in settings. There is the true tone stuff then under another feature there are two more spots. I am trying to get the information so if I find it I will post it.

Hi guys, Im also experiencing the same thing, APPLE told me to restore my phone using DFU mode. I also noticed that my screen is yellowish compared to other iphones but they said that it's normal.

I have the same issue. I found that maybe its related to temperature. My phone was hot when I’ve experinced this, but I dont know the reason I just scolled facebook nothing else. :(

I have been having this problem for the last 2 weeks. It occurs when the phone is in a windshield mount and it dims to black. Upon removal from the windshield mount, the display brightens to normal.

This is my first time ever post thing on an apple forum but this is been my issue for the past few weeks that I’ve had my iPhone 8 same exact story after a little while I notice it starts to dim I have the auto brightness setting turned off My sister is on the iPhone 8 plus and she is having the exact ame issue

Apple's making us work for it. Now it's buried inside the Accessibility settings. To get there, select "General" in the Settings app, then "Accessibility." On the next page, tap on "Display Accommodations" and you'll see the toggle for "Auto-Brightness."

Why is Apple making it harder for users to disable auto-brightness in iOS? Who knows. Maybe they're trying to reduce the number of people who complain about horrible battery life on their iPhone, which would explain their note that settings caption that "Turning off auto-brightness may affect battery life." Still, I thought that was fairly obvious.

Same things happening to me really frustrating it will dim and my brightness will be at 100% and have to just get use to get and then all of a sudden(without me changing the brightness) it will brighten again it’s really frustrating.

Just wanted to report it’s now May 31, 2018 and the Dimming issue is an ongoing headache.

Presently have the iPhone 8 Plus, and it Dims sometimes without any commands from me. Have tried all the fixes Apple and everyone here recommends, but this issue persists.

I have a feeling this is a software issue and that enough of us have reported it so that Apple hopefully will find a fix with an update for the iOS.

I just went back to T-Mobile and changed my iPhone 8 Plus 256gb for another brand new one out of the box, set it up as a new phone, updated he iOS and changed the settings mentioned above and it STILL DOES THE SAME EXACT BEHAVIOR AS THE OTHER ONE AND DIMS THE SCREEN WHEN PLAYING GAMES OR APPS ARE RUNNING!!! 😡😡😡

I have experienced this too. Is there any updates from apple?

I experienced this like a month after I purchased this. I got the phone last January 2018. Then come feb, my phone started to dim.

Now if it is sunny and I didn't put the brightness to 100%, its so dark, as if my phone is turned off.

Please help.

I’ve been having the same issue since I got my 8+ in October 2017. I figured they’d fix the issue with one of the updates, but I’m still having the problem. I contacted Verizon first and went through all the troubleshooting steps, but it was still happening. They told me to go to the Apple store for a replacement. I drive 2 hours to the closest Apple store and the phone was still dimming and getting warm. I get to the Apple store and of course I can’t get the phone to dim on command, so they wouldn’t replace my phone. I showed the Genius bar person this thread, to prove that I wasn’t just making this up. Still nothing... phone is still dimming as I type this.... I’m frustrated😒

I went to the Apple store and they said that its normal. But one of my friend has an Iphone 8 plus and hes not having any problem with the brightness.

It might be the update or theres something wrong with my phone

Same thing, iPhone 8. It’s been nearly a year and no fix, hundreds of us have this issue, I’d recommend keeping your phone usage down as much as you can I guess? The less you use it the less often it’ll heat up, and if it constantly heats up like that than the issue will get worse (at least that’s how it is for me) so the more often it’ll dim, and the last thing you’d want is to be trying to squint at a website or something trying to figure out whether that letter is a 5 or an S. Maybe someone at apple will see this and fix it, hopefully it’ll be fixed with the new update coming soon? good luck everyone!!
