WatchOS 4 animated notifications missing?

I know it's a fairly minor thing in the grand scheme of things, but I upgraded my Series 2 Watch to WatchOS4 when it was publicly released and I'm not getting the animated fireworks and sparks notifications when I close an activity ring.

I've gone through all the settings I can find and can't see anything glaringly obvious, and I'm trying to avoid resetting my Watch unnecessarily. Is there something I'm missing?

Okay, I finally worked out what was wrong... under Notifications in the Watch app, I had Notification Privacy turned on, which basically disabled the animated rings for me.

I’ve turned this setting off now and I’m now getting the fireworks when I close my rings.

This hasn’t worked for me? I’ve never had this notification switched on . My hubby has same watch and his does the animated firework thing , but mine doesn’t ? Confusing

Did you find a solution for this? With my wife and I it‘s the same, same settings she has animations and I don’t. Why is something so simple so complicated.

Good this worked for you. It did not for me. I did get it to work one day after i hard turned my phone and watch off like another forum said to do but it only lasted one day and does not work now

If this gets rid of those awful and horribly slow animations this is the fix I’ve been looking for.

The watchOS 3 animations were fine. They were quick. The watchOS 4 animations are a total bore.
