Describe what you term "junk files". They may be important for the system to work.
May also want to download and run Etresoft's Etrecheck and see the recommendations in the report. The utility does deal with identifying legitimate junk that can be safely removed.

The ultimate way is to backup to an external hard drive, preferably twice, erase the internal hard drive, install the OS, install the apps from scratch, and manually transfer your files from a backup to the internal drive. Everything is then new and there are zero extra files unless you have duplicates of some of the files you created, in which case you can use a duplicate finder.
Also, don't use an automatic Mac cleaner app, as they can trash things that are necessary for the OS, and/or some of your personal files.
It always helps to have the discipline to keep your files in your home folder ONLY. Some folks are worse than chickens in the yard, spreading grains, feathers and poop all over! 😁
