iOS 11 Dock Floating Problems On iPad Air 2

I upgraded my iPad Air 2 and now my dock seems to float from side to side or up or down depending if I’m in landscape or portrait, see below. Is there a fix for this or is it a known problem that is going to be addressed in a version upgrade? I have not been able to find any documentation on this issue & I can’t believe I’m the only one having this problem.

Thanks,

Jim...

You are not alone. I hope they fix this. I can’t access the apps on the left of the dock when this happens, so I am forced to restart. I expected them to catch the bug and correct it in the last update, but no luck yet.

As you can see, not only is it floating in both orientations, it disappears altogether on one side.

Hi guys, I think that the problem comes from iOS because whatever the app you run, the dock disappears if you change the orientation before the screen is stabilize. I spent two weeks with no problem as long as I wait to see the display stable (I mean not calculating) before changing whether the orientation or passing to another app. Today I wasn’t taking care believing the problem was solved and it appeared again. So don’t speed up and wait enough, but it is not acceptable. Come on Apple !!!

P.S. I work with a iPad pro 10.5, don’t worry because you have an IPad 4 ... we are together in the same mess !

This problem has been around for months, and MANY people have reported it. Restarting clears it for a little while, but the problem recurs eventually. Even a hard reboot only fixes the problem temporarily.

It most often manifests after playing the latest Birds game, but not *just* then. It most likely has something to do with the adverts that Rovio pushes onto our devices, but restarting our devices is NOT a ‘fix’ per se, just a temporary alleviation of the symptoms. A ‘fix’ means the problem will not return - but it always does...

Its really time that Apple fixed this, somehow - even if it means blocking adverts on our devices - because it really interferes with things I like to use my device for.

Come on Apple!!!

I think the problem should be avoided instead of cured by the reboot. In fact the dock does not

disappear, it moves under the visible display when you return too fast from landscape mode. The

dock is still available in portrait mode (well some part may be missing) or if you move the pad 180*.

An app used in lanscape mode can provoke the issue if you go back to the main screen swiping the app

not waiting to see the dock complete in the blurred screen. I do this way and I do not reboot so many often.

Can you confirm my theory ?

I agree that it is NOT acceptable for a so sophisticated and expensive device. So Apple...!!!??? 👹

I have EXACTLY the same problem still ongoing, and especially after Birds, but with other landscape games as well. I think the problem lies in the landscape apps upon exit. That's when my dock goes haywire and goes halfway up the screen and covers the open app. Flip it portrait and its still screwed up. Tired of Hard Rebooting to fix the problem. Come on, Apple. You took big bucks for my for my iPad 5. Get with the program.
